If this keeps up, for the Winter Classic we'll be using centers from the ECHL.

At this rate I say we ice 16 enforcers at the classic and go proper old school on the Rangers... Last one in the game pays the dinner tab

I suppose it is possible... actually even likely at this rate... for a depth player to play in two outdoor games.

Good news for Couturier. Bad news for the Flyers that he was even still in the Hospital.

That's just unknown at this point. They might have been worried about potential skull fracture or swelling.

The fact that they wanted to keep him for two days, even if it only was for observation, is not suggestive of anything good regarding the nature of his injury.

True (I work overnight, my sense of time gets screwed up). At any rate, I think you get what I was saying.

I was kept overnight for observation after a car accident when my worst injury was stitches on my head, due to the fact that my head hit the steering wheel. So when I hear 'overnight for observation', I hear 'docs playing CYA'.

You have to remember that if he went "home" it would be Briere's kids taking care of him.

The brief update Monday, December 19 from the Flyers through Tim P. (CSN Philly) is that Couturier is "doing better."
Quote:
Flyers say Couturier doing better: remains out with "head injury"
From Wayne Fish:
Quote:
Flyers GM Paul Holmgren: "Sean Couturier (head injury) was reevaluated today and is doing well. Will follow up with doctors tomorrow.''

So that means tomorrow it is a concussion and he's getting worse, right?

And I hear 'docs looking out for the best interests of their patients' as yet unknown injuries.'
They kept him overnight in case - and let him out because there were no issues. That's a GOOD thing.

DENVER -- Sean Couturier, who may or may not have a concussion, is “doing well,” according to general manager Paul Holmgren.
Couturier, struck in the head by a shot from Kimmo Timonen in Saturday’s loss to Boston, was re-evaluated on Monday and will follow up with his doctors on Tuesday.
A source said he has general soreness, but is not concussed.
