Ohh for sure, but have the Oilers/Barons decided to let him go, if he is going?
RNH has hinted at being interested in going from interviews and such, so I would assume he will most likely be on the team. The Barons are a powerhouse with or without him, so they'll probably leave the decision up to him.
i'd love for danault to make...but he doesn't seem to get a lot of attention.

I think he has a very good chance of playing on the bottom two lines. He has a great all round game and has more skills than players like Lowry, Bussieres, Wilson, Leipsic and others who will be battling for a bottom 2 wing spot.

Maybe someone who follows the QMJHL more than I do can answer me, can Danault grind and hit heavily? I know he is good defensively as is pretty pesky, but I'm wondering whether he could be part of a grind line with Jenner and Wilson/Graovac/Lowry or whether Canada should go with the more defensively oriented 4th line they had last year.
I think it would be great for his development and I am pretty sure the Oilers feel so aswell.

But TBH I think people who think it is good for his development are overrating the abilities of this towards his development...
Think about it; most of us are saying RNH would be able to run the show. How much development do you receive when the quality of competition is so much lower than what you are accustomed to? He's already noticeably beyond the AHL level.
Average star player going from junior to NHL has their production cut more than half... so it's a pretty large gap.
I dont know but this year it seems I'm having a lot more trouble at predicting the team on forward than usual. The bottom lines I just cannot really predict well.
Jenner is going to be a center down there but guys like Danault, Leipsic, Wilson, Hudon etc. are hard to get a good grasp on. I have a hint that after all the bodies he was laying out and the deccent wheels that Wilson will go as the energy and intimidating guy.
The D is almost set in stone but Murphy is a real wild card. Hes dominated offensively in years past, but isn't putting up good numbers at all this year. In anoy other year I would say he isnt on the team, but his coach is coaching so Im not really sure.

Then a battle between Percy, Murphy, Sproul, Ceci and Corrado for the last spot. If they want the steady defensive guy they take Percy, if they want a more well rounded player Corrado. If they want a big reward offensive guy the battle between Ceci, Murphy and Spoul will be interesting.
Ceci may have played himself out of a job with some bad defensive play and the fact that hes younger. Sproul is the best goal scoring dman in the OHL and has been better offensively then Murphy this year. If it comes down to these 2 it seems like Sproul is more deserving but with Spott coaching who knows. Sproul will also throw some big open ice hits which may help his case over Murphy.
That last spot is going to come down to a battle at camp I bet

I don't see him getting first line over Scheifele and judging from last year they didn't totally mesh well when playing together either.
If RNH plays he's clearly the top line for the team.
Huberdeau has basically zero talent to work with on Saint John. He is both the best offensive and defensive option on the team, so he's having to focus far too much on keeping the puck out of his own net to worry about generating offense

Only locks so far seem to be Hamilton and Rielly. Maybe you can add Harrington in there too but for the most part I think the defence is more open then some people think.

Although the AHL is above junior as far as level of play goes, don't go making the mistake of thinking that a regular season AHL game in December or January trumps the playoff intensity of a WJC playoff game. You can't manufacture the crushing pressure of an elimination game in the middle of the season. There is no question that the WJC experience would benefit RNH.
And the one last point I'll make on whether or not he should go is to say that once your eligibility is gone, you won't get it back.

6 Defensive spots are pretty much locked up with pairings pretty set as well with either Rielly or Reinhart switching between the 1st or 3rd pairing

Don't forget this year it's the big ice, and Hockey Canada wants a guy out there that can fly, and skating is his specialty. I know people have some concerns about his defensive ability, but he should be fine if he's put in an offensive role, as we've done with many players in the past. Book his ticket to Ufa.

Sorry, I don't really think RNH is going to exactly be crumbling under pressure playing against kids after he made guys like Weber, Suter, Keith and Seabrook look silly on numerous occasions last year. I don't exactly see how playing in a tournament with kids benefits him, but it probably won't hurt him. There will be maybe 2 "high-pressure" games in the tournament he will play in, if that. If you watched the Charlotte-OKC series this past weekend he's not going to see that quality of hockey for a month when he goes to play for Team Canada, all of that for maybe one game where he has all this "pressure" on him?
It's more likely Canada just rolls over the competition and he's never truly challenged. That's a month of him missing out on playing guys like Marco Scandella, Ian Cole, Colby Robak, Brendan Smith, Chris Tanev, amongst others. Makes a good storyline for TSN and it's always nice to see Team Canada win but lets not make any grand proclamations over some transcendent "benefits" playing in the tournament will provide.

i am not sure where you have been or think we are going but we are not going to roll over the bulk of teams in the tournament.He will soon learn that playing against 93 Russians at home will be no cake walk. Best thing by far if he comes along.

He deserves to be there as a pp specialist, if nothing else. You can win this tournament with a good pp alone and Canada's should be good -- if the lockout continues
