Actually, not "all". You are communicating with one who happily betrays your stereotype.
On the other hand, all people of a certain age range typically are, I've found.
Well placed skepticism is healthy. Cynicism, especially of the baseless variety, is disease.
Note: that opinion is not directed at you or at anyone, for that matter. Just honest, personal observation.

I don't think I'm pessimistic at all.
If you look at the GDT from our last loss, you'll find me cursing off half the people who said we're not even close to a playoff team.

Even keel is the way to go.
Healthy optimism mixed with healthy pessimism.
In the end they are both facades.
Just don't lose the passion or the anger in the balance.
Both serve healthy life functions in moderation and to quote Trotsby disease in excess.

Don't know if it's been talked about at all or posted but, I thought what Marty said after the game was interesting.
Quote:
“Offensively and with our power play we did a lot of good stuff again,” goaltender Martin Brodeur said. “Defensively, it’s still a battle. Last night, we got a lot of quality chances (against) and again today, but I think we have to expect that with the way we play and I think it’s been good. We’ve got to keep it going.”
Also, Deboer and Elias:
Quote:
“I really liked the way we played (in the third),” DeBoer said. “We really took away their time and space, controlled the neutral zone and frustrated them. That’s how we have to play with the lead as opposed to some of the things we were doing earlier in the year.”
“That was one of our best third periods we’ve played in a long time,” Elias said. “We were aggressive. We played well positioning-wise and made some plays at the right time. It was good.”

Amen to this.

This is Facebook "Favorite Quotations" worthy, if I dabbled in that kind of thing of course.

This is what people actually believe.
Realism is always borderline pessimism because the world is ass-backwards right now.

I used to be a realist, then i became a pessimist / cynic. That's why I always predict in the predict the score thread like 7-0 to the opposition, so no matter how the Devils play everything will go better than expected.
Yes, I know, it's sad, cant help it, though.

Only if one wants it to be.
Life is at once beautiful and unfair.
No different today than it ever has been. Just more Negative Nellie drama queens with more megaphones these days.
Pity anyone who listens.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
I find the Postive Pollys to be equally naive.
Crosby comeback acolytes are learning this lesson now.
