I know I shouldn't laugh but that's just way too funny..
Ill bet his teammates will get many laughs out of it. At the end of the day, it's not career-threatening and his near-lifetime contract is guaranteed. He'll be fine.
Sucks though, the Sharks needed him to continue his hot streak.
FWIW as we are in holiday roster freeze, Andrew Murray and Fraser McLaren would have to be put in the line up and another **forward** out injured before they could recall Wingels.
That is a set play that happens all the time. The Sharks are not the only team that does it, nor should they be. Havlat screwed the pooch on that one.
Yeah, it's a set play that was poorly executed by Demers and then made worse by Havlat. Set play or not, Demers' drop was too soft for a situation where the defender is that close to him. That's why the defender reacted the way he did and why Havlat had to rush it and turn over the puck. Both guys at fault, but more on Demers than Havlat on that one. You don't make a marshmallow soft drop when you have a defender that close to you.
And as regards Havlat's injury, you play hockey long enough and you're gonna have a fall coming on the ice like that at some point. Looked to me like he hyperextended the knee on the first leg down, but impossible to tell from just the video.

not a suprise, but I think its a good sign that nothing is confirmed. I figure if it was a broken bone it woulda been obvious to confirm by this point

Small breaks in the foot are hard to see at times. But looking at the "play," it looked like his left foot and shin got dragged down the dasher. I couldn't really see any opportunity for a break but perhaps a significant bruise? It must have been uncomfortable for him. .........

I actually take it as bad news. I'm just guessing here, but I'm speculating that there has been a lot of swelling in knee so they needed a day or two to get the swelling down before he does an MRI. And with the amount of discomfort he appears to still be in, there is likely some sort of significant damage to the knee. Again, all speculation on my part.
Injury-prone players just find ridiculous ways to get injured. Salo got bitten by a snake once. Dipietro gets hurt getting out of bed. Havlat injures himself with nobody touching him. I don't even wanna know what's gonna happen if Havlat gets Kronwalled in the playoffs again. I want Ruutu on this team so bad. Do us a favor Carolina. We gave you a 2nd rounder for Wallin. You owe us.
Mini-update: #SJSharks Havlat dealing with hamstring problem and it's not his first. Similar injury April 2010, also vs. Oilers.
Great

General Fitness
If you were a healthy person before your hamstring injury, you probably will heal faster. If you were not very fit, your hamstring recovery time may be longer and harder. This is because rehabilitation requires exercise. Failure to follow through can result in further injury as your body compensates for your injured leg muscle. Sprained ankles and twisted knees are common during the recovery process.
The Extent of Healing
Whether your injury is a pull, partial muscle tear or a full separation will determine recovery time. Pulls generally take 2 to 4 months to heal. With a partial tear, it can be up to 6 months before you run again and it may take as long as a year before you can sprint. Full separations (complete muscle tears) require surgery and generally take a year or more to fully heal.
Doug Wilson will provide us with an update on Marty Havlat at 6:15p today. Suspecting his absence will be at least a few weeks. #sjsharks
Weeks Brodie? When was the last time DW scheduled a time to discuss a players injury. This does not sound good.
The last 3 (or 4?) hamstring injuries Havlat had only kept him out a few games or less each time. But yeah, Wilson providing the update sounds like it could be closer to months than weeks.
Sucks for Havlat and the team if it's as bad as it sounds.

I read the last time was a couple weeks before the end of the season, which the Wild didn't make the PO's, so no one in the media really knows what the true recovery time was.
