Exactly.

His performance as an 18 (now 19) year old rookie defenseman is positively phenomenal.

Not to mention he leads this defense in points.

Wait, why are we hating on Mottau? The guy was a plugger, but he was reliable and did the absolute best he could with his limited physical gifts. His departure was necessary at the end of the day, but he gave us three years of solid, if unspectacular, play on the backend.

How quickly they forget he was on the powerplay and even managed to put up a goal and 5 assists back there - as good as our best Dman last year. Guy was a trooper through and through. Living in the motel away from home... *sniff*.

Ours is not exactly a defence full of Paul Coffeys and Mike Greens, but it is impressive what he is doing as a rookie. Nice to have a reliable offensively capable defenceman back there for the first time in a while.

Yes it is. And even if he never becomes that dominant PP weapon we need, it's just as important to have an ES transition game, too.

Yep, and Fayne has been very good in that regard too. We're seeing the long outlet passes that we never used to be able to do. Lemaire's stretch pass breakout might actually work with this group of defencemen.

From TG;

Quote:
Devils rookie defenseman Adam Larsson will fly home to Sweden following Tuesday night’s game against the Rangers to attend the funeral of his grandmother, who died three weeks ago.

“He was very close to his grandmother and we respect that he wants to go home for his family,” Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said.

“It will be nice to go home and reload a little,” Larsson said.

Larsson won’t leave, though, until after facing the Rangers for the first time in his career. Although he said none of his teammates had told him yet about the intensity of the rivalry, he was looking forward to it.

“I really want to play in this game,” the 19-year-old Swede said.

Ya, we're going to need him back. We can handle being two defencemen down, but not three.

I wonder when we`ll see some signatures with "The Eagle". Unlike Urbom, he`s a lock, don`t you think?

cmon trots…I enjoy your posts, but it seems like anyone who disagrees with you these days is someone who spends all day on HF and/or playing video games. Larsson has made mistakes- you cant deny that. he has gotten beat on one on ones, rush, 3 on 2 rushes, and everything in between. he has given the puck away, and made several other boners…you aren’t disputing that, right?

with ALLLLL THAT being said, he has also made some great plays under pressure, and has been contributing offensively on pace with our vets. hes a great player, and will only get better. of all the players we have, im not concerned with Larsson…same as I wasnt concerned when kovy wasn’t scoring (funny timing with Df and jim “leaving”). I just want to make sure you aren’t TOO jaded, and can see larsson’s flaws. im sure Robinson does, and its why he will be almost flawless in 5 years.
