I like seeing Porter taking some initiative late in this period to redirect Blues morale.

While I agree it is cheap to do that, I do have to say that the Blues can't complain since Reaves does that pretty much every fight.

I think Hitchcock sent Backes to the lockerroom to calm down and recollect himself.

Here we go again...The league doesn't want Columbus to get Yakupov.

Doesn't really matter. Polak still worked him over and was unfazed after the shots.

Is Hitch a yeller ? I am wondering how he is when the team is playing this poorly in his intermission speech.

Polak was throwing punches after he fell. I don't think Byers did anything wrong.

Backes better not be hurt. He went to the dressing room after that hit.

Yelling isn't going to give the Blues their legs back. What they need to do is compose themselves and focus on what they need to be doing in the third...

He isn't hurt... I think Hitch is not happy with Backes hot temper right now. He is wanting to redirect him to focus it productively on the ice and get his team in line.

Why was there hesitation by the refs to jump in and stop that? That's ridiculous. This is THE worst reffing I've seen in a long time. I must also point out the cross check to Backes in center ice and the ridiculous boarding call called on Shattenkirk. This is so ridiculous.

Rutherford, Korac and Sanders all tweeted that Backes went to the locker room after the hit.

It doesn't take long to launch three or four punches, which is about what he got in before the ref full-out tackled him. I don't think they hesitated at all, but if you're four or five strides away from the action flat-footed it does take a few seconds to get in there once the guy topples unexpectedly.

So Hitch has demoted Stewart off the Perron-Berglund line and put D'Agostini there.
