Daily News columnist Bill Conlin accused of molesting 4 kids

http://www.philly.com/philly/news/br...ldren.html?c=r

Quote:
Three women and a man say they were molested as children by Bill Conlin, a Hall of Fame baseball writer and Philadelphia Daily News columnist.

In vivid accounts, the four say Conlin groped and fondled them, and touched their genitals, in assaults in the 1970s, when they were from ages 7 to 12.

"I'm really sorry that I didn't do something more at the time," said Barbara Healey, whose son and daughter told her that Conlin molested them in the 1970s. "Call the police is what I should have done."

In Blanchet's case, her father angrily confronted Conlin after his wife told him that Conlin had molested their daughter when she was about 7.

Conlin retired Tuesday from the Daily News

If the Phillies org knew about this ... I'm done with that team, same as I'm done with PSU.

For some reason I always found him to be a little creepy. If true, I guess I now know why.

Conlin worked for the Daily News, not the Phillies. Also, if you read the article, it seems as if this has essentially been a family/neighborhood secret for the last 4 decades.

You mustn't have read the whole article. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt given that I grew up reading his stuff. After reading the whole thing, there isn't a doubt in my mind he did it.

He was covering the Phillies most of that time though. I'm not saying AT ALL that the Phils were involved, but no one would have guess that Paterno would go down like he did with the Sandusky stuff.

Yeah, but they didn't employ him. Not to mention it isn't like he used his position to commit these crimes, a la Sandusky & Fine. How would they be at all culpable?

All I said was IF they knew this was going on and helped cover it up / keep it secret.

No reason to think they did, but you just don't know where this type of story will go anymore IMO.

Why would the Phillies try to cover up a molestation case of a daily news writer?

not close as the same thing

but a few years ago an NHL team paid for the rehab of the beat writer that had reported on them for 20 years
