Pearson was the stick boy for Mike Richards and Kitchener when they won the Memorial cup in 2003.

What a year! We make good signings, great trades, fired Kompon, drafted the ideal player, and won the Stanley Cup. This is the highest point possible for us, right at this very moment. Wow.

It is different than most of the other major sports (baseball is the only other sport that drafts 18 year olds regularly). But in hockey, 20 is generally when you either decide that it is time to move on with your life after your last year of Junior or be happy with playing in Europe/ECHL etc.

The thing with most CHL grads is that they move on to play Canadian University hockey since each season of CHL play gets them one free year of post-secondary paid for by their CHL team (or maybe their league I can't remember exactly). He's lucky that he was picked up when he was. However, I'm thinking his play at the World Juniors had something to do with him getting picked.

Been reading up on Tanner. I really love his never say die attitude. He should fit in well. I think he's the type that will bust @ss every shift.

Pearson kept pace with Tyler Toffoli in the scoring race.

Would anyone have passed on drafting Toffoli, as a 20 year-old, 30th overall?

I know some are disappointed by the picks, but chances are the scouting staff knows more than you. I think, given the "questionable" or unpopular picks who helped push the Kings to the cup, they deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Also don't forget players like Paul Stastny who was drafted as an overager in the first round. He turned out pretty good.

I love armchair scouts that criticize the picks of a Stanley Cup-winning scouting team & General Manager. I love you guys!!

So according to some, a prospect stops developing once they reach 19/20. The stupidity on message boards is mesmerizing.

Thats quite a list of guys that have made an impact in the regular season, but how many guys besides Lewis have scored in a Cup Final and have a Stanley Cup on their resume.

Lucic and Marchand. Both those two were home-runs hit by the Best GM in the league(my opinion). The 2006 Draft was just not very good for Lombardi. But Lombardi has a Cup ring now, so he is allowed to have a few stinkers.

This!! It's not like Pearson was playing in some no name league against little kids. He's basically been developed a bit and it ready to make the jump to Manchester along with Toffoli.

Pearson/Vey/Toffoli......That is a serious Line(for AHL), with skill/Grit/Size

Morris/Narchs are going to be very happy with scoring help coming next season.

They will probably get Loki and Clifford as well.

Meaning we keep our pick and Columbus gets our next year's pick...and when we win the Cup next year, it'll be 30th just like this year's.

Shouldn't it be "Hey cool, you are the goalie that my dad scored on" ?

I can't help it, I am a seething Kompon hater.

As for the pick, I am actually extremely happy with it. Pearson was someone I was looking at earlier as a possibility. I think he is a good pick and for once we drafted from an area of weakness. Obviously, we can't be too disappointed. We won the cup and pretty much our entire team is ready to go again. Dean can draft whoever he wants this year. I think Pearson is going to be a very good player for us though.

From the prospects board:

Looks like he started on fire and struggled after the WJC and then was injured.

I like the pick. His character and how he plays is in line with our philosophy. He maybe more of a finished product and ready than anybody else available in this years draft.
