Prospal 1000th Game "ceremony"

Hi, everyone, Lightning fan here in peace... I did a search before posting but I don't think the function works very well, it said "Prospal" doesn't appear in any thread in the forum. Somehow, I don't think that's accurate...

That said, Prospal has always been my favorite player and I'm here to plead for someone to tape his 1000th game celebration tomorrow and get it on YouTube. Unfortunately I didn't have the budget for Center Ice this year so can't get the Columbus feed. We've asked Sun Sports to tape it and show it during an intermission because VinnyP is still very much loved 'round these parts, but who knows if they'll do it or not.

So, for the sake of those of us in the Tampa Bay area who still miss VinnyP, if someone could do that for us we'd really, REALLY appreciate it!

(Oh, and I also have a message for him from Jay Feaster. Said to tell Vinny he needs to go back to short hair! )

Thanks!

Greetings 2029.

I will try to tape the ceremony, but my center ice coverage is hit or miss because I live in CA and I sometimes don't get the proper feed.

So, I'll try it, but my chance of success is very low. Can someone else try also?

I won't be able to do. That said it will likely end up on BlueJackets.nhl.tv the day after.

Thanks for the efforts and the info - I'll definitely continue checking back to see if we can watch it anywhere!

Our local beat writer just tweeted that Vinny Lecavalier is going to participate in Prospal's ceremony tonight. I think that's awesome on all fronts!

We got to see it starting with the crystal trophy, saw Vinny4 unveil the Lightning jersey, and the art work looked amazing! Really happy for Vinny20 (22), he's a special player & a special guy. Thanks for doing such a good job for him tonight!

This went a lot better than Hitchcock's ceremony when he was here, so kudos to all involved. I especially liked Lecalvier getting involved too. Awesome to see.

Great night on the ice for 22 as well, but he's been great all season.

Me, too! I'm hoping the fact that the Bolts gave him one of the new jerseys - which he never wore - is a sign of a trade deadline pick-up!!!

Just got a tweet with this link to a video of the ceremony:

You can have him, he doesn't deserve this.

wow.
Prospal must be one of the most underated players in the league value vice. Why anyone let this guy walk is beyond me.

I think they meant that he doesn't deserve to be on a team that's heading for death.

The ceremony was the highlight of the night. I don't care who you are, it's impossible to not love Vinny.
Have to admit, I was a little surprised at the amount of boo's Howson brought out. I thought Bettman was in the building, or something.

Have to admit that I got a chuckle out of the little boo-boo on the art piece. Anyone else notice it?

In the art piece, lower right corner. He's in a Lightning uniform, #20. But his helmet has 22 on it.

I was shocked by the lack of booing. If this ceremony would have been held in Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Montreal, etc.,etc.-where they expect decent hockey-Howsom would have been booed out of the building.

I have my theory on why Columbus fans are so tolerant of long term sub-mediocre performance, but I'll keep it to myself.

You couldn't hear the booing for Howson in the video, but trust me, there were boos. I thought there were more boos than cheers for him from where I was sitting.

I would never boo Howson, no matter how much I hate him (professionally, I don't know him personally), during a celebration for a players achievement. Shame on those that did.

Yeah it's fine if you don't like the guy but that was not the time or place to do it.

100% Agree. If anyone desserves some respect on this team, it's Vinny Prospal, and it was disrespectful to do that during his moment.

Well said.
Foreasmuch as I think Prospal will be traded to someone in contention by the end of February, I think Prospal in his heart of hearts wants to be playing for the Jackets with the Jackets in contention after March for two reasons: 1) He really wants to help the team make the playoffs (as he did with Tampa); 2) He really doesn't want to move to another city.

OT: Love the Avatar Wooten (is it from the Stooges (looks like something from "Bubble Trouble" or from an Abbott and Costello movie?). Legend has it that Samuel (Shemp) Horwitz was deemed too funny by Abbott and Costello and therefore Shemp's scenes were cut out of the A&C movies. Anyone who's watched Costello act also sees an uncomfortably close and resemblance to Jerome Horwitz (Curly).
