That would have been a perfect time for Sutter to show up, take the ice cream cone out of their hands and smash it underneath his wing tips. The last thing the Kings need is to lighten the mood or eat ice cream. They should be eating lightning and crapping thunder.
Stevens seems like a nice guy, but I don't know how much sense this makes, or if this is really the time to be nice.
I would think of this if morale was slightly low, if they suffered a single tough loss or so, but they have lost 6 of their last 7, their playoff chances and percentages are extremely low right now. If someone came up to me, put a gun to my head, and told me that I have to bet everything I owned on if the Kings would make or miss the playoffs; mathematically, I would have to bet against the Kings, statistically speaking, the odds are not just slightly stacked against them, they are now becoming moderately to heavily stacked against them. The toughest parts of the season are upcoming, our strength of schedule is high, and we need to chain together wins on the order of Boston to get back into the thick of things.
Now is not the time to be licking your wounds with ice cream and consoling each other. Now is the time to give it all or nothing and be as tough as you can be. Ball your eyes out with ice cream after the season is done. This isn't "oh well, let's turn it around guys" time, this is "you better ****ing turn it around or some of you will be working for the Blue Jackets next season!" time.
"It has not been a good day. I lost my glasses early this morning and I had to go buy a pair of 79 dollar reading glasses today. 79 bucks. You can literally get them at Costco, three-for-20." - Darryl Sutter's response to going up 2-0 in the series.
Yup it is official, they've hit rock bottom! Can it get any lower then a bunch of grown men, professional athletes, sharing ice cream together? I wonder if JOhn Stevens taught a crocheting class after that. What a ****ing loser. lol!
When Stevens took over, Flyers fans started calling him "cake baker" So I obviously checked out their boards, to find out how he got the nick name. It's no joke.

Edit: Some further googling tells me, he actually brought a home-made cake to the team (as you claim) as well. Don't know whether there were several cakes or just the one and the media didn't get it straight.
This is something you do when you sense players are gripping the sticks too tight, trying to do to much by themselves etc,
Anyone want to argue that, that isn't the case right now?
This is something you do with a peewee team after they lose a tournament, not with well paid professionals. Dairy Queen? Really, ****ing Dairy Queen? Did John go and rent a school bus and drive them there while singing kiddie songs as well? What a joke this guy is.
