Gagner, Cogs and Nilsson were all PPG in that stretch through the second half of the season (or damn near it), and they were all first round picks. The future looked bright with them too, and to suggest that it didn't look as bright as our youth now downplays just how good they were over those 25-or-so games.
For fans starved for some good news after the Pronger debacle, they were that good news, and speaking for myself, I was excited about those players. Gags and Cogs in particular. But these guys are a different animal. People were/are pretty much expecting big things out of all of them before they even played a single game as an Oiler. That couldve been said about Gagner, but not Cogs or Nilsson necessarily.
