hey folks, hfboards newb here with an ice skating newb question. a little background, since the beginning of hockey season this year, i have been taking my 7 year old daughter ice skating every few weeks. prior to this i had tried my hand at ice skating a grand total of 2 times, and both times were when i was a wee lad of about 7 or 8, so i essentially have zero ice skating experience. despite this utter lack of experience, i can actually make it around the rink without falling down now, and she only held onto the boards a little bit the last time we went. since we both seem to be making some progress, i have started to look into buying my own skates. i checked out the guides for buying skates on this site and elsewhere, and they all seem to say the same thing: how the skates fit is most important. my question is this: will i be ok going to a big box store like dick's to get a proper fit, or is there some local legendary "skate guru" or hockey shop i should see to get fitted? also, what should i expect to be shelling out for a new pair?
Also, i am slightly scared for this saturday..
That alesso set that i posted about.. i posted on /r/philadelphia about it becaues i didnt know anyone going..

To Canada hopefully in the Spring time. I wanna catch some hockey games up north. Been something I have been wanting to do for awhile now. It just depends on if my one die hard hockey fan joins along or not. I have thought about going alone, just don't know how it would be though. I don't have a problem meeting or getting along with new people, just don't know how comfortable I would be there alone for the week or two I want to go.
At first, i read this and thought it was meant to be dirty...

I don't have an answer for you, I just want to point out that Pazuzu looks pretty friendly there. Like he's giving a neighborly hello.

"Pazuzu is the demon of the southwest wind known for bringing famine during dry seasons, and locusts during rainy seasons. Pazuzu was said to be invoked in amulets which combat the powers of his wife, the malicious goddess Lamashtu, who was believed to cause harm to mother and child during childbirth. Although Pazuzu is, himself, an evil spirit, he drives away other evil spirits, thus protecting humans against plagues and misfortunes."
i've always thought it was a depiction of him coming to get his apparently annoying wife, more like a sheepish "hi, i'm here, is she at it again?" kind of pose.

Meh I never thought of it like that. I'm actually starting to sober up, but I've been meaning to try all 3 boozes by themselves on the rocks. Honestly, the rum and brandy are damn good. Bourbon is a little harsh.

People arguing with me that Malkin is a good defensive player, and discounting the stats I keep showing and explaining to them.
EDIT:Honestly, even if you're a Flyers fan you know Briere is bad at defense, why is it so hard for people to accept that Malkin isn't that good at defense?
One dude called me a moron for saying a +11 player wasn't good defensively.
