I don't think it was mentioned here, but DSP is out 4-6 weeks.

I think the reason Scheifele doesn't have any points is because he's basically been demoted to the 4th line/13th forward.

As someone who watched the Red/White scrimmages during selection camp, Scheifele was playing really well at that point. He had a goal and a couple of assists - he played so well that he didn't even dress for the final game against the CIS team.

Of course that was before the practice at when he looked like he got hurt.

This seems like the most logical deduction. There wasn't any real discussion through camp as to whom was going to lead the top line. Scheifele made pretty much everyone's list as Canada's top centre. If the coaches weren't big on Mark then why did he have absolutely no problems making it through camp, and why didn't he play the exhibition game against the CIS team?

If he isn't performing or isn't getting a top line role it's almost certainly because he's nursing an injury at this stage; I don't think anyone really thinks he's made out to be a grinder on one of the bottom lines.

I think blocking that shot back in the red/white games led to an injury that is taking longer than Hockey Canada hoped to see heal. That could conceivably account for his slow pace on the ice as well.

FIN up 4-1 on USA right now, that is huge for CAN. I said during game 1 that the Finns were much much better than they layed versus CAN and they are proving it here. The Czechs also played well last night vs DEN (dominated DEN much much more than USA did), this pool might be closer than it first appeared. Meanwhile in Pool A, SUI outplayed RUS in game 1 despite the loss, there appears to be plenty of rooms for upsets.

I am about head off to my last WJC game(gotta get back to WPG for the LAK-WPG game), my first CAN game vs the Czech. I hate the Czech for several reasons: My first international memory is watching CAN lose to Czech's in 98, hate Jagr/Hasek, Slovakia is my 2nd favourite international county (due to Palffy, Gaborik, Demitra, Visnovsky, Chara all among my favourite players). So I really really hope CAN destroys them.

Man i'm anxious to see how Scheifele does tonight. He's been underwhelming so far but I have no doubt he's going to turn it around.

unless he's playing injured, in which case we should temper our expectations.

I heard mention of him taking DSP's spot on the first powerplay unit. Was he on the second one last game? Honestly can't remember. Maybe that'll help him out.

Beauty pass there by Mark for the shot. Great save by the Czech goalie.

To be honest, I think that shot would have missed the net if the goalie didn't stop it.

Also, is it just me, or does Scheifele look really slow?

He looks abnormally slow, and he barely looks engaged in the play. I wonder if he's hurting.

How could Winnipeg have missed Stone in the draft. Wouldn't it have been a pleasant surprise if they really had drafted him

Scheifele extremely underwhelming again so far. Winnipeg missed Mark Stone in the draft because there was no Winnipeg in the 2010 draft, the Jets didn't come back to existence until May 2011.

I think he might be. I mean, he was slow when he was up in Winnipeg, but not this slow.

Scheifele looks like he drags one of his feet when he skates, I swear he is the slowest guy out there tonight.

Yeah, every linemate he's had so far has been flying but he seems to be behind the play. I've also noticed he's getting bumped off the puck extremely easily. It seems like he can't stay balanced.

Scheifele looks like a combo of Fehr's skating and Wheeler's agility at the start of the season when he fell when anyone skated by him.

I hope he really is injured and not just as bad as he's been looking. If we passed on Couturier and this is Mark at his best that would suck. I don't really think that's the case though.

Edit: of course as I type this he would score a sick snipe
