Foligno wore #82 in training camp and Whitmore wore #71.
Seems like that should be reversed, given Foligno's history.

Man this is really depressing as an Amerks fan. But I'm happy for Whitmore, he deserves it.

So what do you do as Rochester now? Are they holding open tryouts to play forward?

Oooh...can I try out?
I wonder if Brian Roloff is playing somewhere or if they can get him too? Knows the organization...

He's playing for Augsburger Panther in the DEL, so he's probably not available.

Wait...I just realized this...
Marcus's NHL debut will be...wait for it...against his brother Nick!!
Wonder if Mike Foligno (now that he is unemployed) will be in attendence.
(here's hoping for some Foligno-on-Foligno violence
)

Beat me to it. I was going to post the same thing.
If he scores should we expect the leap in honor of his dad?

I like how this all unfolded. Brothers against each other with father out of a job and able to come, no conflict? Nice.

As happy as I am to get a look at them, this is really depressing as a Sabres fan too.

I remember listening to an interview with him in juniors and that was brought up and he thought he might have some tribute to his Dad after his first NHL goal.

One of the few bright spots in an injury ridden season: young guys getting a shot to prove their mettle.

Expect foligno to hit everything that moves for his debut.
When he is on the spotlight he shines... in a good way.
He has several youtube clips of him smashing kids at the world juniors last year during the tournament.
I expect some high flying foligno action tomarrow.

I believe (I think this is true) Sabres history will be made tomorrow night when Marcus Foligno plays. He and his father will be the first father/son tandem to play a game for the Sabres.

Marcus has said when he scores his first, he will do the leap.
IR, broken ankle, coming up.

Is Derek Whitmore related to former Sabres property Kay Whitmore? (I don't think Kay ever saw the ice for the Sabres, after being acquired in exchange for Steve Shields, but still, that would make this really odd)

Doubt it since Kay is only 17 years older than Derek.

It might be the ugliest celebration in sports, but I hope he does the Foligno leap when he eventually scores his first in the NHL.

Marcus was born in Buffalo, and Derek was born in Rochester.
