Wow. How does that equate to an 86 D? I guess your forwards aren't contributing to the number at all.
My D has nobody over like an 88, but I can still get the D rating to about a 92 for playoffs, and it's usually at an 88 during regular season. This is with guys like Andy Greene and Rob Scuderi in the mid 80s playing. I have pretty much all NHLs as forwards, though, so their defensive ability must be pushing the number higher.
The bad player to good one is a huge issue. There's very little way to tell whether you are playing well when you play like ten level 1 guys in a row and roll all of them. Then you go to someone who can stick lift (I find that the easiest way to tell whether someone is probably an elite player) and pass well and you're boned if you don't adjust your game quickly.
Still, it's such a piss off that I can go on like 30 game winning streaks during the month, but can't get over the hump in the playoffs. I could really use those 15k pucks, especially since I don't play as much as I used to.
Yet I've played teams who were roughly 95/90/90 who had a top six of 95-99 rated players (RNH, Malkin, Landeskog, etc.) and then 3rd lines of Lucic - Bergeron - Horton. I have no idea how that team is only equated to be 3 points higher in offense, especially when they have guys like 99 Larsson, Mike Green etc on defense.
Yeah my forwards are pretty close to yours (worse on the 4th line, actually), I assume the 2 point advantage is coming from Larsson + Fowler on the back end.
For the record, The Simpsons game was really fun to play through. Although it's going for $10. I would not recommend buying it at this price. I would recommend you invest in Playstation Plus (if you're going PS3) because this month Playstation Plus members get it for free. On top of that, Final Fantasy V is free this month for Playstation Plus. Each game retails at $10. Considering 3 months of Playstation Plus is $17.99, those two pay for the cost of the subscription.
Just scored a goal in vs. with Cam, assisted by Boulton and Volchenkov.
Least likely goal every scored?

I get more goals than I should with the Boulton-Carter-Janssen line. Not every game, but that line will put up a goal for me every 3 games or so. I score on average just over 3 goals a game (according to my stats on there), so its not like I'm putting in a ton a game. I guess it's just the way I play, combined with the "crash the net" tactic that does it. But I laugh whenever I get those 3 skating in and passing the puck like it was Parise-Elias-Kovy
I think I'm going to go play a couple of games now and see how many I can put in with that line.
Why do I even play drop-in? Open the scoring with a goal and a one timer pass to take my team up 2-0. The other team's goalie quits, the claw back and are winning 3-2 with a minute left. I single handedly tie the game up with a ridiculous deke that burns ****ing everyone on the other team.
Then, with 14 seconds left, the one human defensemen left on my team decides that on a 2-1 break, he's going to go f0or the ****ing hip check and clear whiffs. They score, we lose. Jesus christ WHY
Played a vs. game before and was dominating only to have the game freeze with about 2 minutes left Was up 5-1, Ponikarovsky had two goals, and I held the guy to about 75 seconds of TOA through 2 periods (he kept firing shots from the blue line once he learned I would strip the puck so quickly and one somehow went in).
One weird thing I've noticed just while playing vs. Does anyone seem to have games where their players just don't seem as sharp, or just unable to pass? The second game I played saw almost every single pass from either team get tipped off sticks. I'm not the best player in the world or anything, but I was passing at about 30% through the first period. I'm usually above 60. Its not like I was getting dominated or the other dude was even playing an aggresive system. Just no matter what I did, where I passed or when, it was always getting tipped off something or someone. Eventually won it 4-0, but it was really strange.

I dunno, when I started playing HUT one of my first games was somehow against an 85ish/85ish team, and I beat them 3-0 with 3 goals from Paul Bissonnette, my star player.
Unrelated...
Curt Schilling (Boston Red Sox, probably Hall of Famer) created a game studio (38 Studios) and just released "Kingdoms of Alamur: Reckoning. He talked about it with the prominent Starcraft 2 webcaster Sean "Day[9]" Plott and seems like a pretty down to earth guy. Apparently he's been a huge gamer for a long time.
"Immerse yourself in an all-new massive universe from the minds of bestselling author R.A. Salvatore, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion lead designer Ken Rolston. Choose your path and battle through a sprawling world featuring intense, responsive, and customizable RPG combat."
Currently has an 87 rating on Metacritic for the PC version and looks pretty good, although I'm not in the market for a game of the genre right now.
Just a heads up to all the HUT fans: The featured online tournament is a good one to rack up pucks with right now. Starts with a 1.2 multiplier and goes up to 1.8. Also pays 1000 pucks if you win. No real restrictions on joining.
Plus, it seems like tournaments match you up with quality competition. I had the pleasure of losing to a top ten player last night, for instance.
Also, why do they still have that loophole open where you can play tournaments without a salary cap? That's how all these guys are waltzing around with 97-97-95 teams, and without an ounce of cap management. /rant
I usually get to that same point once every year or two it seems. I have no sense of time, so maybe its less often, maybe more often. But that desire to play it pops up every so often. I still have Rollercoaster Tycoon installed. Thought about deleting it the other day. Not doing so to avoid the above.
