Ray Sheppard and Shawn Burr on D? I think this team has some problems on the blueline.

Ok, but still. With Ray Sheppard on the blueline, that team is in BIG, BIG trouble.

My team may not be the best but it could kick the crap out of the other 3.

Also keep in mind that the Williams that's on my 3rd line is Tiger Williams, not Jason Williams.

Actually PigPen i like your team the best. The weakest of the 4 in goal, but you got some tough customers.

No arguement from me there.
I was really hoping I could pick up somebody like Hall, Crozier or Vernon or even Osgood in a later round but oh well. Lumley was almost as good as Hall in his day and Legace is no slouch in net either, even if he is only a career backup.

How are these guys supposed to be ranked? For instance...Pigpen has Borje Salming on his team. Now, is that the late 70's-early 80's Salming of the Leafs? Or the over the hill, way past his prime Salming that he was when he played for the Wings?

I picked all players at their prime.

For instance, I consider mickey to be the second best ever DRW RW, even though he only had 3 or 4 good seasons before his back went out.

I don't believe in Fantasy Hockey and building teams based on stats.

I don't do Fantasy Hockey.

I picked my team based on the likelihood of winning.

For example, although I liked John Ogrodnick and he entertained me with a lot of goals he was too one-way for this team. I could only afford one one-way player: Dionne. Instead for my 2nd/3rd Wingers I took foligno and Ciccarelli who can be expected to muck in the corners and play up and down their wing with some defensive responsibility.

I was gridlocked on my choice for #1 center between Delvecchio and Fedorov. I finally opted for D's consistency over Feds' big points seasons. I was also stumped between Shanny and the Big M; I finally opted for Shanny's greater physicality over Mahovlich's (slightly) greater offensive skills.

Finally, you said let's have a draft ... you DIDN'T SAY: Let's have a draft and score it this way.

I'll pit my team on-the-ice against any of the others and expect to win ... My coach, Jack Adams, will settle for nothing less.

Fedorov's big point season(s)? I dont know if that word should be plural. He only really had one BIG point season. The other years he was pretty good, but not overly productive from the standpoint of calling him a big point guy.

Yep, what basically went into creating my team, also. The positions I was torn at were my third line center and wing. Part of me really wanted to go the Draper-Maltby route, but Primeau has grown into his role so well and he has such a size advantage...plus he'll drop the gloves and go once in awhile. And I just couldn't see Robataille not going somewhere in this draft, though Drake and Dennis Polonich were other options I was toying with.

It would have been interesting to see our two teams go at it in their hey-day. We both have some, er, aggressive players

My all tough team

Dallas Drake is too soft for this team (except maybe 4th line):

Dan Maloney* -- Mel Bridgeman -- Joe Kocur
Bob Probert* -- Keith Primeau --Dennis Polonich
Tiger Williams -- Dennis Hextall -- Howie Young

*Probie was badder but Maloney was scarier.

Harold Snepsts -- Derian Hatcher
Bugsy Watson -- Dennis Vial
Bob McGill -- Bob Rouse

Mike Vernon
Chris Osgood

Weren't Norwood and Delorme a feared D-pairing? Also, you forgot Vlad the Impaler! He has to be on the tough team.

No kidding! How can you have an all tough team without Konstantinov? You have Hatcher ...but not Vlady?

Well,
To be honest with you, I was looking for hockey players less than I was looking for Bad Actors.

John Hilworth
