And I have no damn idea what our lines are, so please don't take the lineup as fact.

Important game. Need two points on home ice against them. Is Little playing?

He is DTD. No decision has been made either way yet. Little did not skate at practice yesterday.

An interesting note, the Thrashers were 17-11-4 at this time last year. A better record than the Jets currently. That is a little disheartening, but there's still room for improvement starting tonight. Go Jets!

Why is it disheartening?

I figure we are a better team at this point compared to last year. Kane, Little, and Bogosian have stepped up their game considerably and even though our defense had a ton of injuries early on, none of our call-ups have looked out of place (except for maybe Postma). Our depth was also considerably improved.

I think this team is better then last year.
But (at least to me) the east looks stronger this year then last.
And we started off reeeeal slow, and have extra ground to make up.

We have come on quite a bit in recent weeks, so I think we will be okay.

Great point. Earlier this year, the team looked awful, much worse than last year. This is no longer the case. And remember, that record was with a Pavelec who was second only to Thomas in the league with like a .940.

It doesn't matter one iota as of now whether or not the Thrashers had a better record at this time last season. The Thrashers also shat the bed for the balance of last season. That is what happens to run and gun teams that play little defense. The Jets are playing a different brand of hockey, one required to be in the hunt when it counts, you know, at season end.

GO JETS GO!!!

Nice GDT topic Slammer.

I wonder if we will get to see Mason's new pads tonight? I wonder if he would let me touch them one day?

Is that too creepy? Did I go too far?

Tonight's game is one of the scary "It's a trap!" affairs.

The Jets just came off beating the Ducks in the emotional return of Teemu, are riding the crest of an impressive December home stand, have had two days off, it's the laughable Islanders for jeebus' sake, and, they may be looking ahead to the Thursday and Friday games.

The Jets will have to stay focused on the Isles; if the Jets can dictate the play a win should be probable tonight.

Each game against an Eastern foe is important and the Jets need to win those games in regulation - losing a game against Eastern teams is bad, and almost as bad is giving up the single point for OT or shoot-outs. At this point the Jets are fighting it out for a post-season berth, and the reality is that this may well continue for the balance of the season; they're in tough in the division, let alone the conference, and those single points may be costly at the end of the year.

And wait, what's this??? Blake Wheeler is third in team scoring, with a +9??? I think he's very, very close to breaking out of his goal-scoring drought - the Isles would be a good opponent for a hat-trick.

It's the Jets' first game in a long time with all top 6 D-men, so I predict a 6-2 Jets win, with Wheeler getting four points, and being selected as the game's first star.

Huge game tonight and ya, in my mind it's a "must win".

Go! Jets Go!

Okay good. Then I'm glad I opted to change my original thought of 'petting Mason's pads' to simply touching them.

On a side note I hope the crowd shows up. It's my night off. Last time I had a night off was Capitals. If you're going to the game tonight, don't just show up. BE THERE. Make a difference.

We know our team can beat ANY team in the NHL when the crowd and the team act as a harmonized fist going through the heart of the opponent!

Glad to see Mittens draw in. I'm sad to say that I think with his addition, once Little's back we've likely seen the end of Thorburn getting substantial minutes.

Going to the game tonight, #4 of 10 for me this season. If it is really as warm as they say it is going to be, might just walk down to the arena =D

This isn't fact either, but it's the best guess from the Free Press:

Forward

Kane-Burmistrov-Wheeler

Ladd-Antropov-Wellwood

Glass-Slater-Miettinen

Fehr-Stapleton-Thorburn

Defence pairings

Stuart-Bogosian

Byfuglien-Enstrom

Hainsey-Oduya

I think it means that the GST line will be the fourth line. Our top nine would be: Antropov, Burmistrov, Fehr, Kane, Ladd, Little, Miettinen, Wellwood, Wheeler. With the top nine healthy I see no reason for the GST line to be broken up so Thorburn will likely get as much icetime as Slater and Glass outside of the penalty kill. Noel seems to love that line so I expect they'll get a lot more icetime than our previous fourth lines have had. We'll likely see Stapleton a lot less.
