Hmm, you must've misunderstood me. I wanted to say that in Germany beer is considered a foodstuff, not an alcoholic beverage, thus 16 year olds can drink it. Of course it does contain alcohol, but primarily it is considered a foodstuff, part of a meal.
In Finland, beer is something you drink to get drunk. In Germany, the history of beer is so strong and tied to the culture of the Germans that it is not viewed as a substance to get solely intoxicated with, like vodka.
And because beer is considered a foodstuff it can be basically sold anywhere at any hour of the day? (right?)
