My December Rankings of the 2012 and 2013 QMJHL drafts:

I have Highmore 1st in this draft because of a few reasons...Highmore is bigger, he is very good in all three zones and his work ethic is great...Audette is a bit more skilled in the offensive zone but not as skilled in the other two areas, and Audette needs to mature a bit more on the ice...Highmore is still dynamic in the offensive end though, he is a great player only thing that worries me about highmore is if he can stay healthy for length of time.

1. Matthew Highmore—F—Dartmouth 5’11/160 18 08 10 18
2. Daniel Audette—F—Phenix 5’07/158 32 21 29 50

20. Alexis Pepin—F—CCL 6’01/193 22 10 06 16

2013:

I never bothered updating the points for the 2013 class yet...this draft is very very strong maritime crop.

Noel, Roy and Deschenes all have the talent to get special exception though I do not think they will be granted it, I know rumor was Deschenes was seeking it but that is not 100%, and Howell I saw play last year but he never played Atlantic Challenge Cup this year and I have no idea where he is playing but he was great last year, but untill I see him play this year I will not be ranking him in the 1st round instead ill put him on the list but after 1st round.

1. Nathan Noel—F—Shattuck 5’09/140 17 21 20 41
2. Jeremie Roy—D—Antoine Gir 5’10/158 00 00 00 00

So your rankings are non LSL factor.

Soumakis is a very good player, great story after playing espoir, then AAA, do you think he can be an impact player ??

Also what do you think of Cortese ?

And in your opinion can Neil Robinson play at a Q level ?

Those guys could climb in the second half as LSL has to play them considering they lost a significant amount of talent

seriously? No Nathan MacKinnon in 2013? Grigorenko in 2012? You're missing THE best players. I haven't even heard of any of these guys.

complete sarcasm, great job as always scoutman1. I always hear about great players first from you.

For the 1996-born players, I was surprised not to see Valley Wildcat forward Nik Blanchard's name included. His offensive abilities are impressive. He needs to work on his defensive zone play, but his strong shot and great hands are among the best I have seen for this age-level.

he has a lot of work to do on his game before going in my top 20...his skatinig is average at best, his work ethic without the puck is not great at all, very inconsistant on the ice one game looks great and the next you think to yourself is he hurt today...

I agree 100% with your comments on the Blanchard kid. In some ways, he reminds me of Mike Lyle from Cape Breton. Very noticeable some games, almost invisible in others.

Thanks for the list scoutman. Great work as always.

Question: does the preliminary list that the teams get now become the 1st (unofficial) CSR list since they only do one (official) list now? If so, does the CSR combine determine the final list?

Thanks and have a great holiday

What's the deal with Josh Pugsley Kid from Pictou leading the NS Major midget league in scoring as a 1996. I see he is only listed at 5'9 143lbs so i'm assuming it's size related?

he is a good player, has good two way ability, his offensive output is a bit higher than his offensive dominance...he is smart, good vision and good passing skills, does all the little things, but needs to get stronger and more consistant, he is a guy who is ranked for 3rd to 4th round.

Sukumaren shouldnt even be in the top 60...and than when you add in the LSL stigma that pushes him outside the top 100 for me...

Cusson...the kid can play when given the chance and hes a big body, but once again the LSL stigma will kick in...if I had to guess, id say he will be a 3rd rounder...

The Pre-lim list is different than the 1st CSR list...Pre-Lim only lists players by Letter Grade and alphabetically...the 1st CSR list seperates players by round and lists them alphabetically and the 2nd CSR list (the one made public) ranks players...but I heard the CSR may do away with the 1st CSR list and only make one after the CSR Combine...

Its hard to understand how he is leading the league in scoring...ive watched him 4-5 times and in all those games he was a good energy player, working hard, physical but he didnt do anything offensively...

this guy has fallen BIG TIME this year, he is not progressing and is actually regressing a bit, he has fallen from being an excellent talent to average at best. personally I think he is more interested in schooling than hockey which there is nothing wrong with at all, just hockey wise he is falling BIG.
