You're generous Chain.

I'm getting to the point where I am starting to really feel bad for Kaleta. Every game (time?) he hits the ice he's getting injured.

Oh by the way we're losing this game. Miller gets shelled, Sully's head explodes, he storms into the locker room, steps on the logo, and Miller goes at him like he was Jordin Tootoo.

In all seriousness though we'll likely back into Christmas. Hard fought competitive game, but it's just one where we wont come out with a win. 4-3 Leafs.

Stafford has 11 goals and 23 points in 27 career games against Toronto and is one of several Sabres with career success against them.
Quote:
As a whole, the team has dominated its QEW rival with a 30-12-1 record since the lockout that includes Friday's 5-4 win in First Niagara Center.
Quote:
The 30 wins are Buffalo's most against any team in that period and the Leafs have always served as goaltender Ryan Miller's personal panacea.

Miller is 25-11-0 against them with a 2.33 goals-against average. His win total, shutouts (4) and save percentage (.926) against the Leafs are his best against any opponent, and the 25 wins lead all active goalies against Toronto.

Carolina with scouts in the building tonight? Since they just dealt Kab's Sr., I doubt they'd want MAG/Kab's Jr.....

I thought for a minute that you were saying that that happened. I went scrambling to Twitter to remember that it was just a prediction. Now back to reality...

I think I'll be at this game, not entirely sure. I'm 1-0 seeing the Sabres on the road (But that was in 06-07 in Montreal) and 3-1 this season, including three in a row and last Friday against the Leafs. So who knows.

I'll be optimistic.

Sabres - 4

Vanek
Adam
Ehrhoff
Stafford

Leafs - 2

Kessel
Bozak

I actually seen a few sites that believe Toronto has a deal set for Staal but did not complete it due to burke's trade freeze (starts 7 days before ACTUAL trade freeze)

I'd be shocked, but it would make more sense then us

Today's #Sabres morning skate lines: 29/9/26; 71/58/21; 72/28/36; 8/37/54

Kassian on the 4th line.

while there is not much you can do with the lines, with what's available.... you sure couldn't do anything dumber than putting Roy back with Vanek, and putting Kassian on the 4th line...

I too think sending a message to Kassian about how his one game that was sub-par is a good idea.

*moves Derek Roy to first line C*
*Lets Drew Stafford stay where he is*
*is the worst coach ever*

I wish they would keep Vanek - Chewy - Poms together. They could also do Whitmore - Adam - Kassian. I like Whitmore the other night and think that he could replace Leino there.

Then you've got Roy with Stafford and Gaustad with Kaleta. Throw McCormick/Ellis/Gragnani on the open wing spots to fill out the line-up.

I don't get why he doesn't keep successful pairs together. I would prefer to see the following.

Vanek - Chewy - Pominville
Kaleta/Ellis - Roy - Stafford
Whitmore - Adam - Kassian
McCormick - Gaustad - Ellis/Gragnani/Kaleta

Agreed. I would rather see that lineup than what was tweeted.

I'll repeat a pitch from the "Carolina-Buffalo trading partners" thread of a few weeks ago:

To Hurricanes:
Stafford & Leopold

To Sabres:
Ruutu & Gleason

The only catch is that Buffalo gets two pending UFAs while Carolina gets guys signed past this year - which isn't exactly the M.O. of Regier.

Still, Kassian was on the ice for a long time, working with the likes of Brad Boyes, Tyler Myers and Tyler Ennis, and several of us media types wonder if the Sabres are thinking about scratching him. Marc-Andre Gragnani was off early and could be used as a forward. We'll have to watch the warmup.
It's like, I don't even know, but if this happens, I'm moving to the Pens board full time.

TORONTO -- Thomas Vanek will play tonight in the Air Canada Centre but the Sabres' leading goal scorer is clearly struggling with whatever lower-body injury he suffered Saturday in Pittsburgh. Vanek had no shots on goal Tuesday in Ottawa (he insisted this morning the stats were wrong), and didn't appear to be going full strength this morning either.

Vanek has skipped the team's last two practices and didn't know how long he would continue to do that.

Vanek said he senses the tension in the Sabres' locker room, especially from some of the young players, as the team tries to snap its two-game losing streak and improve on its 1-3-1 slide.

"Play your game. I understand we're in a little bit of funk,' Vanek said. "Guys care. They care a lot. They want to win. Sometimes when you want it that bad, it goes backwards. It's tough to tell somebody to relax and just play but that's what it comes down to."

Vanek skated this morning with Derer Roy and Jason Pominville. Derek Whitmore was on the second line with Paul Szczechura and Drew Stafford (who had that combo in your pre-Christmas line pools?). The other lines were Adam-Gaustad-Kaleta (making his first appearance since Dec. 2) and McCormick-Ellis-Kassian.
