And holy **** they were going down on shots faster than Avery at an Oscar Meyer Convention.
The Queen played well but we just never really tested him that much outside of 2 or 3 quality chances, anything that got through was weak and when rebounds were left - not one red sweater nearby to send it home.
I said when Zajac scored, "We need a lot more of that if we are going to win", clearly didn't get it and that killed us. On top of guys just waiting waiting to shoot the puck, ahem Kovy, that rush when he had the puck streaking through the slot, brutal. You're not going to get a clear shot at the net every time, aim for a skate or a shin pad near a loose teammate and cross your fingers.
****ing PP is goddamned brutal too - great idea to get ONLY shots from outside when a team has blocked fifty seven shots from you so far, great ****ing idea guys.
I can't complain about this game too much. With how well we played they were noticeably intimidated by our play. We just couldn't put one by Lundqvist who was the only Ranger who wasn't phased by our dominance. Regular season is a crapshoot sometimes.
that was one of the softest goals i've seen this year.
Yes, if Kovy plays the puck intelligently, there is not 2 on 1. If there is no 2 on 1, there is no Rangers' goal.
Also, "one of the softest goals I've seen this year"? Are you serious? It's 1x0 on the goalie. And he ripped a wrister high shoulder from about 12 feet out....... with another forward on his left side that had to be respected. You try stopping that.
A little disappointed in the loss, who wouldn't be. But the pipedream of the Devils storming the standings and being an elite team in the conference isn't true. Especially with the D the way that it is: it's gotten more injuries on top of the lackluster performance it had already.
When Tao and Foster aren't starting for us, I'll have a little more faith. Pete has yet to really fix the PP and work on D zone coverage, but I've been harping on that for awhile to the same results.
Marty wasn't brutal but he's just an average/mediocre starter now. It hurts to see it and makes me sad when you see his brilliance in flashes but I'm just not sure anymore. He keeps hinting that he might want to keep playing but what if Lou doesn't feel he's good enough to hold down the fort which will most likely happen.
With Hedberg as the full-time goalie, we're near top in the east. Of course he is old, and likely cannot handle the full season work-load. But why the hell are we giving Marty more starts? Hedberg is clearly the better goalie and it isn't even close right now. This sucking up to Marty is going to cost us a playoff spot...
And spare me the, "you need to score more than one goal to win". It's ****ing Hank in goal, and he is just that good. Any other team, and we likely go into overtime or win. But point still stands... we have a goalie issue right now that we have been ignoring for a year+ now.
Kovy, Foster, Marty, and Lundqvist are why we lost this game. Marty looked like an absolute ****ing ****** on the second goal. Kovy and foster were both -3 and both gave 1 goal that was directly their fault. Lundqvist faced shot after shot and won the game for the rags. All I can say is I wouldn't mind not seeing marty for a while.
