24/7 Rangers and Flyers

Did anyone see the first episode last night. If so, what's your reaction?

don't care, really. Even Boudreau's swearing got tiresome last year.

It's excellent. Great inside look at being in the NHL and shows a personal side of the players. Very high production value and great writing. My non-hockey liking friends love it.

I loved it. The Russians on the show are hilarious.

"You shooting at the goalie, Artie?"
"No just reload my weapon you know?"

I agree.

It gets a little stale 10 minutes in honestly.

The big thing it's two that I think are putrid. Just wanted to see if anyone agreed.

If you've ever played hockey consistently in your life, you would love this.

Coaches swear, that's what they do. How can you get tired of it 10 minutes in? It's the behind the scenes of the game we love. I don't care who the teams are, it's so interesting to see everything we don't normally see.

Plus the production value and the way everything is presented and done is absolutely top-notch. HBO does not **** around.

I thought it was great, although I'm a little afraid of our 6-1 butt kicking by the Rangers showing up on a future episode.

Loved it, and so far I enjoy it more than the Penguins/Caps 24/7.

Bryz needs his own reality show, ASAP.

Can't wait to see the behind the scenes reaction to the Rags pounding the Cats 6-1.

This, well except for playing hockey consistently part.

Almost never see behind the scenes for anything hockey, so it's cool to see how players/coaches react/ go about their lives.

Hate both teams, loved the show. I think the show does a great job capturing the cities as well.

Was looking for a case of tasty cakes, though.

Great stuff, hbo camerawork is nasty.

Used to go ocassionally to that westchester practice area brings back memories. II blows it out.

the garden of dreams stuff is amazing. So was the flyer going to that peewee rink...love that stuff. Enjoyed watching flyers celebrate to that song after they won too.. reminds us all it is a game.

What do you guys think of the anismov celebration? Is it that big a deal? Thought it wasnt neccessary but also thought Tampa way overreacted.

I agree with this statement. I don't think the celebration was that bad, but there's a no need for it. I could understand the Lightning's frustration, but I also think there was no reason to react like that either.

this is the most important thing. the writing, narration, cinematography, editing, etc. is all excellent. you're right - HBO doesn't **** around. they find characters, tell stories. it's fine television, period. my wife, who likes hockey OK but isn't a fan has been really into this series.

And your logic suggests this?

I've played my fair share of hockey, even got a cup of coffee to play for a team here in Chicago. It's not for everyone. I'm more interested in whats on the ice than off it... any player can tell you that.

I agree. I hate both teams, but HBO does a hell of a job with the show! I am just so glad that there are sites on the interweb that allows me to watch shows like this!

It was interesting to see the tests they gave giroux to see if he had a concussion.

That's all.

The rest of the episode was absolutely stale.

Me too! Well my girlfriend. She honestly has no interest AT ALL in hockey, but she loved last year's and is engulfed just as much already this year. She loves the personalities, seeing hockey for what hockey isn't known for, and she is even intrigued by the coaching strategies and the different ways that each coach approaches different scenarios whether they be good or bad.

The production value as you said is top notch. Whoever is doing this show deserves a serious Emmy consideration because it's basically perfect. The soundtrack, the pace, the camera work (which is INSANELY precise yet original as well), and as you said, the narration is perfect. I absolutely love this series and could watch it about any team ALL season.

That particular episode.

Maybe next week will be better. Can't see it the first day but will catch the rerun for sure.

Again, the first show, I really enjoy all the behind-the-scenes footage. I just really don't care about ryan callahan and his family, etc. I don't care about anisimov and his 'sniper goal' celebration. I don't care about how many drinks gaborik had the night before a game. I don't care about the rags and flyers. It was nice to see simmonds offering his time to skate with kids. I realize the whole banana peel incident was completely stupid and ignorant and that it should be totally forgotten but.. It would have been refreshing to see simmonds make a joke out of it or something. God, he appeared so bland.

Whatever.. next week should be better.

Not looking forward to reliving the rags whooping us..
