Why is it stupid, its not like there is a rule that you cant playmake and score on the 3rd line. You just do that while learning at the NHL level. Its clearly worked for Det and Philly, but yeah...i guess who would want to mirror them?
While I'm glad you got this part (most don't) you overlooked the part where they all spent time dominating lesser leagues BEFORE they even got their 3rd line chance (in my world 3rd line would largely be used as a developmental line). Anyhoo, have a look:

Jeff Carter #11 overall

19 years - Returned to junior
20 years - Returned to junior + some AHL
21 years - NHL lower lines

Mike Richards #24 overall

19 years - Returned to junior
20 years - Returned to junior + some AHL
21 years - NHL lower lines

Claude Giroux #22 overall

19 years - Returned to junior
20 years - Returned to junior
21 years - AHL + NHL

James Van Riemsdyk #2 overall

18 years - Returned to college
19 years - Returned to college
20 years - NHL

Henrik Zetterberg #210 overall

20 years - Returned to SEL
21 years - Returned to SEL
22 years - NHL

Pavel Datsyuk #171 overall

19 years - Returned to Russia
20 years - Returned to Russia
21 years - Returned to Russia
22 years - Returned to Russia
23 years - NHL

Jiri Hudler #58 overall

19 years - Returned to Czech
20 years - Returned to AHL
21 years - Returned to AHL
22 years - Returned to AHL
23 years - NHL

There are many more examples but suffice to say, given Kadri's performance at every level and the fact he just recently turned 21, he is EXACTLY on schedule with where he should be and his organization is treating him EXACTLY the same as organizations who are successful at developing high end forwards treat their forwards.

In short, nothing to see here. My personal hope would be to see a line of guys like Colborne, Kadri and Frattin developing on the 3rd (though Bozak needs a spot too).

How long have you been watching Leaf hockey?

13 is the number we charish the most?
You realize you specifically quoted him as saying 30 years, right? I'm not even a big Sundin fan but how many Leafs are more cherished over the past 30 years?

no one has meant more to this franchise in terms of contribution and leadership.

Linking Kadri to him is a pathetic troll attempt by Cox and he knows that if it doesnt erk one crowd of Leaf fans it will erk another.

Ok, kid, how many more players are as or more beloved that Sundin over the last 30 years? Careful when you think, don't hurt yourself.

Are you asking this to yourself, because I didn't say the most in franchise history.

I honestly don't think he can read properly. He's gets so worked up in his troll-fests that he excludes meaningful words in his "arguments"

Reading comprehension is a skill "agreement" lacks greatly, but I'm glad you caught onto that eyeball

The idiot is already setting Kadri up for failure to those who don't know better. Please, stop posting his articles so I could be ignorant to the fact that this hack is still writing and people are reading.

Yup #91, and yes means nothing.

History, is history. Mats wore #13 as a 19 year old.

Yeah, why would you hand over #13 when he hasn't worn it before the Marlies? Just an idiotic suggestion by Cox

Cox is a dumbass

13 shouldn't be worn for awhile, it has too much meaning to this generation of fans. Has someone worn 17 since Clark? No. Has someone worn 93 since Gilmour? No. It's out of respect for what these guys did for this city.

I'm a little young so I'm not a hundred percent sure on this, but wasn't there a really long period of time after Sittler left that someone wore 27? I know Shayne Corson(sp?) and Brian Marchment both wore it in the early 00's.

Give Naz whatever number he wants. Burke has some weird things about him like this, remember he made Grabo change his number until Kessel came?

I'm pretty sure that Cox just means to give Kadri a number that points to him as being a full time NHLer. If a number is as important to him as it is to some people here I would start to wonder about him but I doubt that it is.

Lou Lamoriello in 23 years has had three players not see AHL time: Niedermayer, Gomez, and Larsson.

"Great article" and "Cox" do not belong in the same sentence. The sun is a joke.

Give him 66 for all I care.

The numbers I want to see are those Kadri is going to be putting on the scorecard.

Leafs haven't retired numbers. I don't see why #13 (I know I know), or others should be prohibited. They should be able to wear any number they want, it's not like Kadri is replacing his name with "sundin."

If you're taking Cox seriously then you have already lost. He's a guy who gets to troll in newspapers and on TV instead on the HFBoards.

I thought one of the smuggled out Czech's got it as well? Just can't remember Frycer or Inachek's younger brother? Maybe it was Miroslav Ihnacak.

I remember Harold introducing him.

I know that in scientific terms, star is a sun, but when it comes to Toronto media, they are rivals; and Cox writes for TheStar.

should've atleast read the URL if not clicked it.
