i would assume roughly 0

We better keep him.
It will need maybe 2 month or so to delete Murray hockey
from the players mind.
But after that our 30 goal scorer should score 30 goals again and i'm not
willing to trade Penner for a warm handshake to see him scoring 35 goals in Columbus or New York next year

at the deadline i think we could get a 2nd rounder from a contender that needs some scoring depth.

I think there is a huge chance he comes to Anaheim during Free Agency , so obviously he will just be a rental... 2nd rounder at best

Not much. The only teams that will bite are contenders will to take a flyer on him as a third winger.

Probably only net a 3rd or possibly a 2nd and that will probably be late in the round too.

I think you're better off holding on to him for now

He's an expensive option for a 3rd line winger.

His value is roughly a 3rd and mediocre prospect IMO. However if he's dealt right now I think salary would have to back the other way, which will make the kings hold onto him for a while.

Penner and a second for hemsky.

Penner picls up his play in edmonton and gets traded for a 2nd rounder.

Two seconds forr hemsky would be pretty good imo. Maybe edmonton puts pennerr on the first line and then puts eberle on a line with horcoff and smyth to spread the offense.

No, penner has played rw before

And yes, I am crazy

oiler fan here

we would have to move hemsky in a deal OR before. i think, as i did last winter and spring, that penner fits the style of the oilers (that they play a system ...something hemsky doesnt have the iq to do). He was great for us last year and should not have been traded. works well on any line, even if he isnt getting the goals and limelight. not sure what has happened to him in la but he had a great string of games for us right up to the trade. His last game as an oiler he nailed horton and lucic on the same shift, flattening both.
i think a 2nd might be too steep considering the market is not there for him and he is ufa and not a playoff performer. i think i would extend myself at a 3rd or take hemsky and add a 2nd as was previously discussed by another poster. unlike previous poster i would consider us as a team in playoff shape with that addition by subtraction (hemsky).. so i dont see ditching pens at the deadline.

3rd straight up
or
add your 2nd (do we already have it?) and get hemsky

i also miss penners interviews...a third is cheap to get entertaining dry wit answers again.

nowhere near enough to make the kings trade him. The Kings have a nice 3rd line of Penner-Stoll-Williams going at the moment, may aswell hang on to him then let him go at the end of the year

an oilers 3rd is about as high as his stock will go in la so stay with him they probably will. not a playoff player.

Seems like LA are getting points now after the coaching switch. If it doesn't look like they're in playoff contention in February, I would assume Penner is a available to the highest bidder, which should be a second round pick at most unless he comes hot between now and then.

But looking at the LA roster and the current standings, I personally don't think that is a very likely situation. LA has a better team (or ought to have) than Dallas, Phoenix and Minnesota among teams currently ahead of them. Maybe Nashville as well unless they find some additional offensive punch from somewhere.
With Richards back and Doughty picking up, I think their rot is over with momentum coming back. Hell, even Dusty Brown is back to being an impact player lately.

If I am LA, I deal Jack Johnson instead. Don't care what any of his fans say - he is horrible defensively, and LA simply doesn't need his PP qualities that much with guys like Voinov and Martinez being capable options - and Mike Richards does a good job on the point as well.

Furthermore, Johnson fills a big hole on many teams when it comes to upgrading a PP (and many are still intrigued enough by his package of speed, size, physicality and skill to forget how clueless he is on D), and thus could return someone of real value.

I would consider Hemsky for Penner straight up but kings definitely won't be adding anything.

Personally, I think the kings are better off holding onto Penner but the kings are in need of a RW and that would be the main reason I would even consider a Hemsky trade.

If Lombardi did another trade with Edmonton he would most likely loss his job. You also forgot the Kings would have to add a prospect and a 1st.

Bobby Butler and a warm handshake at the deadline if Ottawa is still in contention.

I wouldn't trade for him, I'd offer him a 1 year 2.5mil contract in the offseason and see what he could do. He's the perfect Mike Gillis reclaimation project.

He played with more heart than most Kings during the slump, but let's only look at the negative he brings.
