So before you go assuming things because of what others have said, watch a couple games for yourself. And yes, at THIS moment Getzlaf is better than Kessel, but I would not count on that for much longer. Kessel is 24 and Getzlaf is 26, lets see where Kessel is 2 years from now. Also, in reference to your 4 ppg seasons, its pretty easy to get when you have Bobby Ryan and Corey Perry on your side. Arguably the scariest line in the NHL. Kessel has played with NO ONE until this year and has found chemistry with Lupul. Together they have more points combined than Getzlaf and Perry. So in short, we will keep Kessel if that is what the asking price is for Getzlaf.
Certainly Lupul/Kessel has stepped up more so than Perry and Getzlaf, that's for sure. In the WHo's Better argument I'd have to give it to Kessel right now, although I do think Getzlaf holds more intangible qualities than Kessel does - ie size, physicality, strength. Unfortunately the PWF skillset seems to be less relevant than ever these days, with only 4 players in the top-30 in scoring being of a PWF variety (Franzen, Hartnell, Neal, Lupul). If this trend of skill/speed > size continues you'd have to think a guy like Kessel could potentially hold more value to a team than a guy like Getzlaf, especially when he's grossly outperforming him.

if this is what it takes to get getzlaf, it would be ridiculous!

My guess, if Toronto were to try to pitch something at Anaheim for Getzlaf, it would look like:

Colbourne
Grabovski
Kulemin
2012 1st

Given 2012 is a deep year, and salarywise, Grabo + Kulemin = Getzlaf, and Colbourne looks to be a decent/good 2nd line centre when he matures.

Kulemin and Grabovski remind me the time when leafs fans were screamming how good Antropov and Poni were. As soon as they left Toronto both players disappeared.
Imo not your 1st line players. More like 2nd and 3rd. I know, I know they scored 30 goals but on a crappy team playing top minutes.

Ducks say no, anaheim isn't giving away the #6 center in the world for that garbage

I would offer

Luke Schenn
Joe Colborne
1st 2012
Grabovski

and I am pretty sure that would get getzlaf

No... Getzlaf is top 5-6 center in the world. You don't trafe that for a 3rd line prospect , a high pick , anda upcoming ufa

the top 5-6 center has 1 year left and a bit on his contract. He will be the equivalent of a rental in a few months. Very similar to grabovski in that sense.

Colborne is not a bottom 6 prospect

You conveniently missed luke schenn

But at least you got the first round pick right.

3rd line prospect? Colborne EASILY has top-6 potential ... may become a #1 center, he has all the tools

Grabovski is an upcoming UFA, yes, but he is still a top 6 center and would be an upgrade over Koivu

Schenn is a top 4 dman (with top shutdown potential) who would look superb paired alongside Fowler. (Ex. look at what he has done alongside Gardiner so far) Schenn is amazing physically and defensively

the 1st is a early-mid pick in a very deep draft

If Anaheim wants to trade Getzlaf for whatever reason then they WILL take that deal, i do not care what you say or think

I assumed you'd be smart enough to realize I didn't add him because he is the only thing of value in it.

From a ducks point of view I'm looking for...

Kesler+edler+ 1st

Try this on for size...

Filppula, Helm, Nyquist

for

Red Wings slayer (Getzlaf)

I feel like that's over payment, but I am a Wings fan. Filppula is having a great year, Helm will probably become your fastest skater (he's our fastest guy), and Nyquist is our top forward prospect. Add a 1st if it sweetens the deal.

That being said I highlyyyy doubt Getzlaf is for sale.

This is the point I'm trying to prove.... Anaheim are NOT moving perry, getzlaf, or ryan. Teams rebuild to get this type of young core. They will resign in anaheim for sure.

You assumed wrong, I am only smart enough to interpret what I read correctly.

This what you wrote:

"No... Getzlaf is top 5-6 center in the world. You don't trafe that for a 3rd line prospect , a high pick , anda upcoming ufa"

It was evident that you were trying to downplay the value of my package, but by omitting the most valuable piece to prove your point, you are not playing fair.

And as for your canucks package, that is just laughable. As a fan from neither team, I can honestly tell you that you that you are expecting too much and will be heavily disappointed if getzlaf does indeed get traded.

Riiiiight.

Phil Kessel was had for 2 1sts and a 2nd, and most viewed that as Burke getting the shaft.

Your proposal is basically two nearly developed high first round picks, and ANOTHER first round pick. No way Burke does that trade, especially for a guy on pace to finish the year with 41 points. Burke wouldn't trade Schenn for Tavares when everyone thought Tavares was the second coming, what makes you think he'd come close to considering adding a blue chip prospect and another draft pick on top of that for a struggling highly paid player?

I like Getzlaf a lot but I don't think I would give him top 5 in the world status.

Crosby
Malkin
Stamkos
Datsyuk
Sedin
Kopitar
Toews

Are all better than him (in my opinion).

I could make cases for a couple others but yeah

Place him in front of sedin , getz may not put up the same points , but his intagibiles are far more value than henriks

This is actually a very fair offer. Sure buffalo looses their top tier #1 center but they get a 1B center in roy and much needed scoring depth.
