I'd *like* to think most people are smarter than that. If we make the playoffs, fantastic, who would've believed that? If we don't, well, great work anyway.

Absolutely no way I'd deal assets for a rental, but if the right deal came along with a player who has the right deal... Can't be afraid to add to this group. Get guys in and getting points and getting the swagger - gonna be a fun team to watch in coming years.

I'm still waiting to make sure we don't either:
1. Lose steam because the young guys aren't yet ready for a full 82 game season, thereby dropping out of playoff contention by season's end
2. Pull a Colorado and take a step back next season

I think Parise solidifies us as a playoff team; low seed with the potential to steal a series.

not a chance unless he signs a contract for 5 years before the trade is made

IF we do finish 7th or 8th we'll probably be facing one of Boston/Philly/Pittsburgh.....and we are the Senatrolls afterall

In all honesty, we'd probably be smoked....still would be a great learning experience for the younger guys though.

again i agree if a 24ish year old top 6 is being shopped its important to be interested.

turris's age is the big reason i was ok with the trade

This team definitely could make the playoffs but they still have work to do controlling the goals against or it won't matter. The offense has been surprisingly good and it has covered up our defensive weakness

Alfie has played great -- especially the last few weeks. Of course he's not the player he was, but he's damn close!! I'm happy he's doing so well!

At the age 39, doing what Alfie is doing is beyond remarkable. Even the greats of hockey, the Sakics, the Modanos, the Yzermans totally fell apart way before reaching this age.. and did I mention Gretzky?

Sakic was still in game shape at Alfie's age. But yes, Alfie's resilience is remarkable.

Teemu's still doing big things and he's what 41? Nice to see we have a guy like that on our team too.

Yes, there's very few people who can actually continue being elite at this age. I mean, it's no walk in the park. Countless HOFers couldn't even come close to doing it. So, it's definitely something surreal, makes Alfie a special player.

the young guys had a great learning experience last year. IMO one of the big reasons for our success this season is that the binghampton guys have been lights out. They are young, energetic, physical and they are scoring. Adding that to the vets that we had is a good combo. We end up running around some times in our own end for sure but that is happening less frequently. And Anderson is rounding in to form. He's not been great thus far, but he's been pretty solid in his last 10 and is cutting back on bad goals against.

as for getting smoked, what did they have? 95 shots against Boston and Pittsburgh. We can play with both. Our record since the 1-5 start is superb and if we can keep pushing the pace, we'll climb in the standings.

We're going to wake up Christmas morning with the Sens in a playoff position and playing very entertaining hockey. You need some luck in the playoffs but who knows.....I do know I am more excited about this team than I have been in years.

All about conditioning.

The players that had all the talent in the world didn't worry about keeping their bodies up, something that Alfie has done very well. I'm completely speculating of course, but man Id love for him to stay until Spezza is leaving his prime.
