wow what a day! I love Mondays! No work, hockey game, had an hour run, went for drinks after hockey and took a nap! Mondays are good!

Wow some crazy party going on up stairs

drunk people are annoying unless your one of them, which is only fun occasionally and with friends (and on a Monday really)

Hey everyone,

Just thought I'd sort of introduce myself as I'm moving to Ottawa in 10 days with the girlfriend. We met in Vancouver but she's originally from Ottawa. We're getting settled in now since in September she's off to U of O for law. I used to go back to Ottawa every summer to see my extended family, but I haven't been back since I was 12 (I'm 23 now) and I have yet to experience Ottawa in February.

Anyways, I'm pretty excited. We'll be living off of Waverley and Macdonald street. Do any of you know the area? Are there any community centers nearby that have ball hockey? Or any ice rinks that have drop-in games?

I'll always be a diehard Nucks fan but I imagine myself becoming more and more interested in the Sens as the months go on so you'll probably see me around here occasionally. I've been following them pretty closely since I have Karlsson, Spezza and Gonchar in the pool -- hello 1st place.

But yah, what should a new Ottawa transplant do in February? Just find a bar and watch hockey?

Canal is always a good time in February. Goes right alongside the market so you can skate and then grab something to eat and warm up.
And for all your shinny-related needs:

"Sandhill" You have to increase the number of responses (there's a little box with a 10 at the bottom of the chart)

Link to a map with all of the rinks:

Welcome to Ottawa! I'm not familiar with that end of the city, myself, maybe someone else will be able to toss you some info on that subject.

Bar+hockey is the most popular option, yeah, but we can be a neat city. The Rideau Canal is worth a visit - world's largest outdoor skating rink. I like live music, and we've got a pretty vibrant local scene. Spectrasonic is the big promoter for smaller venues like Ritual Nightclub, the Bronson Centre and Capital Music Hall.

Hope you enjoy the city. Sorry to hear about the diehard Nucks fan diagnosis, but don't worry. You came to the right place to have it stamped out.

On hard? FWIW I had trouble finding people to play coop with me, and didn't want to do it with randoms online who have terrible connection and coordination.
