You look at the stats like O-zone time, you’re starting to see guys hold onto the puck more. That’s two-fold. When you’re spending more time in their zone, it wears them down a little over the course of the game. It (his regulation goal…) might not have looked like much, but that pass Kopi gave me, I don’t know if a lot of guys can do that. It’s a three-foot pass that goes a foot in the air. I just got in position to shoot, and he put it in the right spot.
I’ve been struggling, maybe the last year and a half, on my shootouts, so I’ve just been working on a little more of simplifying my moves. I was going to go exactly where Stolly [Jarrett Stoll] went and I felt like he [Ducks goaltender Jonas Hiller] was shading that side of the net so I just switched it up at the last second there."

I felt good coming back, and obviously it was nice to help out there. It’s a stepping stone, but we know that we have to be better. We don’t want to give up that third-period lead, but it was nice to see us pull it off at the end.’’
(The overtime penalty kill…) was big. Quickie made big saves. The defense, there was, at one point, I think three guys going down to block a shot. That’s the type of desperation that we need (in order) to have success. We’re a team that, it’s been well-noted that we haven’t scored a ton of goals. We don’t need to score a lot. We just have to keep them off the board, and when you have guys sacrificing to block shots and digging down in tough situations, like it was there, obviously that’s a big thing for us.
Not much (has changed for the Kings since the last time he played…) We were doing the same systems. We were doing everything the same. I think we were a little bit more tenacious on the puck, which I think will continue. We turned a lot of pucks over, when they were trying to come up the ice, and we had good backcheckers. It was obviously something that we have to get better at, to shut them down in the third (period).."

I liked the way our forwards played. I thought they were really good in all three zones. I think we moved the puck pretty good. I know our power play didn’t score, but they certainly had a lot of good opportunities, and that’s a good thing. And then obviously, to kill that power play in overtime, against three or four of those guys that they put on the ice, we did a good job. Mitchell and Greene and Stoll and Richards and Kopitar, they really did a good job. Doughty, he will get better. I think both of those kids, Johnson and Doughty both, have huge upside and we’ve got to work on that.
(on his emotions today…) I was pretty focused all day. I was thinking more about how to use your players. It’s like I told them before the game. `You guys better pay attention, because I’ll get Mike Richards and Brad Richardson mixed up. [laughs].
As I said, I think our forwards (Brown and Richards…) were good. I don’t think it’s based on who scores the goals. I think they’ve got to work together. Brown’s goal is a great play by Kopitar.
(on his return to the bench…) There’s nothing like game day. Even when I was sitting upstairs, game day is still the best part of the whole game.
(on how he picked the players for the shootout…) That’s who they used in Toronto, right? It worked pretty good there. I just wanted to confirm with them, because the goalie tonight is a right-hand catcher and not a left-hand catcher, so it does sometimes make a difference to some players."

It's really got nothing to do with me, these young guys, that's a big reason why I came, these young guys and then the quality of the type of people that we have with our veterans. That's really important. We've just kind of got to edge our way along. If we had lost 3-2 tonight in a shootout, I'd still be saying the same things, and some of us would not be agreeing with me. You've got to walk before you can run. Like I said yesterday, it's a 3-2 league and it was 3-2 again."

- UPCOMING SCHEDULE -

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

I love mystery goaltender.

Sutter: "This isn't baseball"

He apparently hasn't heard many of Dean's stories. ;-)

Knowing Sutter and their history, it was probably a little dig at Dean.

This is weird...we always know who will be in goal before game time.

Quote:
There was speculation that Sutter told Bernier he would be starting tonight in San Jose, but in the locker room, Bernier said Sutter was just giving him some encouragement. Bernier joked, “I thought I had done something wrong.” After today’s skate, Sutter was asked about his hands-on approach with Bernier.

SUTTER: “I just think he did a really good job yesterday. We talked about everybody in the room being a part of trying to create an identity, and I just thought it was important that he knows he’s a big part of that, just because of how he was in the last couple days.’’

And, with the Kings facing back-to-back games, would Bernier be starting tonight? Sutter wouldn’t say.

SUTTER: “Just to put it on record, I don’t say who starting goalies are. This is not baseball.’’

Gagne hasn't scored a Goal in 15 games now. He also only has two points in the entire month of December. Not to mention he is a Minus five for the month.

I would say he is due for a decent game. Would love to see him step up tonight.

Keep up the energy from yesterday, and finish those chances! We'll be a tired team in the third, so we'll have to hit em hard from the start and do whatever it takes to get at least 3 goals.

At first glance it looks like we will get destroyed tonight. But a closer look paints a different picture. I have a feeling JB shines in net tonight and the Kings win a very close game. Few predictions...

1. JB gets the win

2. Kopitar with multi point game

3. Richards and Gagne show why they belong together on the same line.

Go Kings.

If I needed to leave one player on the bench for my fantasy team, would I pick Gagne, or Williams?

Haha thanks. Now that I said that though, Gagne will drop a 4 point night while Williams ends up being the first inductee to Sutter's **** list.
