If playoffs were to start on this day.

We would meet the Florida Panthers in the first round and out of all the teams in the top 4 I believe the Panthers would be our BEST chance. Not saying we woundn't beat the others but I believe they would be our best shot. There is a good chance that Florida would take that division, so I think we should finish 6th, so we could get a 2nd round berth eh.

Thoughts?

I agree..I wouldn't count out the Sabres as long as Ryan Miller is their backstop...I fully expect both the Sabres and Caps to be in the top 8 at the end of the day...I think 2 of Toronto,Ottawa and New Jersey will fall out to make room....lets hope its Ottawa and Jersey..

Would be a great story if both teams matched up in the first round. The only 2 teams that have not made the playoffs post lockout. I will be pissed, though, if Florida makes the playoffs and the Leafs don't.

we have a good chance against anyone other than Boston and Pittsburgh. Id say Philly too but Bryzgalov is an enigma.

a Toronto vs Florida playoff series would be so weird.. it would be a home game for Toronto in every game haha.

Florida is a franchise on the right track. I wouldn't be surprised if fans went out to their games to be honest. And as a hockey fan before a leaf fan, that would be fine by me.

I really don't understand what else you would expect from a wide range forum. This ain't the borg.

Versteeg would probably score a hat trick in game 7 to win the game 3-2.

I wouldn't. Lundqvist can win games by himself and I think the Rangers offense is underrated.

The Leafs and the Panthers have been consistently across from each other in the standings so far this season. I wouldn't be surprised if they play against each other first round. Actually, I'll go on record as that being my prediction. Panther's aren't a fluke. Mr. Tallon is a smart man and we're currently reaping the benefits of his wisdom. Granted that everyone is healthy come playoffs, the Panthers smoke the Leafs with a goal from Versteeg.

In a perfect world, we finish in the 6th spot and face Florida/Washington/Tampa/Winnipeg in the first round. I'm assuming whoever comes out on top of the Southeast will end up in 3rd place. I like our chances against those teams much more than against Boston/Philly/NYR/Pittsburgh, that's for sure.
