Playing Foster on anything other than the PP (save for an odd shift) is asking for even more trouble.

There is a reason why TB in 2009-10, a lousy team with less defensive depth than NJD today, parked him on RW on their fourth line.

The most well-known scouting report in the NHL is that this guy is a skyscraper on skates. And that's a commentary on his utter lack of mobility more than his size.

Which is why the Salvador - Foster pairing didn't even last a shift. I don't mind Foster at all. He's decent with the puck and can make a few plays but his play in his own zone is "bad" at best.

Which is why I get nervous even reading any suggestion here of NJD now having "depth" on their blueline by virtue of his acquisition.

I'd bet my last dollar that Lou and Deboer in no way see him even remotely as a replacement for any of their top 6.

I agree, I believe the extra cap space we have will be devoted to a trade for another defenseman, to me it's who will have to sit down when that is done.

Foster was brought in to help the PP. Can`t say I`m satisfied, but I`m not disappointed either.

This experiment won`t last long, that`s for sure. He`s gone after the season.

Lou is big on family, and as CD said, Larsson was probably feeling a bit homesick. Nothing wrong with making a special allowance for the kid.

He's more or less a plug, a placeholder until our young defencemen mature enough to handle the roles we need them to play.

We better trade one of our defensemen then in that deal, which would be more than awesome.

Foster sits in the meantime. He's really just bad defensively and it doesn't cover the slight help to the PP. Its been a good pick up for the past two weeks considering the injuries.. but there's no chance he keeps Larsson or Greene or Tallinder from the lineup.
