I was just wondering how you guys feel about Mikkel Boedker? Personally I was probably expecting him to do better at this point in his career than he is doing.
Is it holding him back to be a Coyote?
He had 14 points in 34 games last season and just 11 in 35 this season. Why not more?

Should he be traded?
He's actually playing very well. Skating is better than ever and he's generating scoring chances. He'll start to bury them more frequently as the progresses. He's not going to be traded anytime soon.
I agree, last year he looked like an 11 in 35 game guy, this year he looks like a 20 in 35 game guy, but he's only got 11.
I do expect the pts to start piling up soon as he's creating chances, but like others have said, 35 SOG in 35 games isn't going to cut it if he wants the point totals to begin to climb. He needs to begin registering at least 2 SOG per game, then we'll see his totals rise.
It seem alot of the Danes who lurk around these boards are always dissapointed by Boedker's performance. How good was/is he supposed to be? I think he's on the right track considering I think last season was his first full season in the NHL.

Good question. I can understand wanting him to be the best player he can be, but the Danes who've lurked here make it sound like he's supposed to be the poster child for Danish hockey. He's represented Danish hockey pretty well in fact and I couldn't be happier with the way he's coming along, but they seem to have awfully high expectations for him. At some point, you wonder how fair those expectations are for the player in question.
Pretty good defensively. I think his offensive game will come, but even if it doesn't evolve, I think he could be a good 2 way specialist in this league. Doesn't seem to have attitude problems either.
I thought it seemed pretty silly at first, but maybe rt was right about drafting from Scandinavia when possible.

Can't beat the development, either. Jr. To SEL. Don Maloney recently stated he feels the SEL is the 2nd best league in the world.
I think the easiest way to answer this is that Boedker was playing in his first full season last year, and it was primarily on the 3rd/4th line. Now, he has been matched up anywhere on the 1st-4th line, so he could be playing against the top players defensively more often some nights.
And if anyone follows how our PP does, if he is getting more time on the man advantage, that means he is less likely to score, as our PP has been awful.
I think it is fair to say that if we can get a combined 75 points out of Korpikoski and Boedker, we are in excellent shape on the year. I think they are on pace for 60-65 combined points or so, and we are close to but not in the playoffs....
Always thought Boedker was going to be a fantastic two way player. He has tremendous offensive upside as well, and he is so unselfish with the puck. I remember a game against Florida a couple years back and he had an empty net for the hat trick but choose to force a pass. Normally I would have been pissed but I believe we were up by two. I think all of us would like him to have more a killer extinct but it's not in his DNA. He's more like Whitney. Perhaps that might develop more as he continues to get better. I'm thinking he's going to be a lot like Ericksson in Dallas.
I'd be pretty damn happy with a trade up for Aberg or a stay put for Collberg. We shall see what the WJCs hold. I wouldn't say Samuelsson is a given. He's in the SEL but he's not making an impact.

Ulfie is holding him back so the Coyotes don't have to use a high draft pick for him...
Pretty much everyone agrees we rushed prospect development under Gretzky and probably did some permanent harm or otherwise delayed their development.
There was rushing in the past. The present is making our prospects timid by keeping them too scared of making a mistake and getting scratched or banished to the end of the bench. We need to find a happy medium. I'm hoping the Turris situation brings some positive changes.
Was looking for some info on Boedker and saw this thread, just curious if there's an update on how he's been playing this season? Progressing? Regressing? Any info is appreciated.

he's taken huge strides forward this year on creating offensive chances. that being said he's hit a wall the last ten games or so that he hasn't broken through yet.

I think he's progressing but we have to keep in mind for all intensive purposes this is his first full year in the NHL unless you want to count his rookie season under Gretzky and frankly I don't. So far his main problem seems to be his unwillingness to shoot the puck. It seems he desperately wants to pass regardless of the situation.
Being a playmaker on this team and not having Whitney or Vrbata on your line leaves you few options for forwards who can finish.
Someone has to bury the puck to get an assist and we are just not blessed with finishers.
I like Boedker and believe he will continue to improve. He will break out as soon as he starts shooting more.
I wonder if the coaching staff is telling him to shoot more?
