When Dallas gets back to regularly holding the other team to 20-25 shots like they did during the glory days, that's when the success will come.
This.

When you hold a team to 26 shots or less you're likely to win. I used to have stats to back that up, but I'm way too lazy to find them now. 26 in the magic number.

Wandell was a turnover machine at the blueline. That whole 4th line was flat out terrible all night.

Penalty killing needs to be better and Bachman was awful. The powerplay couldn't seem to get in the zone and hold possession of the puck.

So basically everyone sucked and the team lost. Problem is special teams and blue line turnovers. Dallas is competing for a playoff spot against teams like St. Louis and losses like that hurt more than just the score board.

Raycroft came in and made things even worse

Him letting in that 4th goal sealed it.

The only way he could have played well enough to keep them in the game at that point was not letting in a single goal. Bachman has come in for him twice and done just that.

Sucks for Raycroft, and I can't help but feel for the guy, but that's the business.

He'll probably find work overseas if no other team picks him up.

Raycroft didn't play well enough. There was 3 or 4 times the puck should've been put in the net but was saved by the defense clearing it. The one time the defense didn't cover someone, it was in the back of the net..and in the end was the game winning goal.

It was one game though. The overall body of work done by Bachman has more than showed on good rest that he can do the job in net better than Raycroft has done for the previous year. He hasn't just been bad, he's been really really bad. Granted, he started on back to back nights most times than not but even then..he was letting in a soft goal or two or three a night.
