He wasn't too noticeable during the game, but that's okay cause he wasn't really 100% you don't just get over the flu in 3 days. I was worried about him in the Shootout, and didn't think they would use him.
My buddy back home in Florida said he watched the game on the Capitals feed. He mooches off my Center Ice when I'm gone haha.
He said the play by play dude is a real ******.
He said in the 1st that Elias still looked like he had the flu after he missed I guess what they thought was an easy play.
Supposed when the Caps rang it off the post, and rebounded off the post when the fans chanted MARTY in the building that they should be chanting GOAL POST GOAL POST!
I mean the Devils guy are biased, but I don't see Steve, Chico, or ever recall Doc bashing the other team especially when the other team had a 3 goal lead. Now after they blew the lead that would have been a good time for bashing.
I said earlier in the day that I'd take a point with the defense we had tonight. Glad we got two, but I expected better going into the 3rd.
It looked to me that once again we started off the 3rd sitting back initially. There wasn't as much jump, and there wasn't much forechecking happening until after the Capitals first goal. That is the problem, because the reason they dominated those first two periods was because of that pressure. Once that foot was off the gas, it let the Capitals generate more offensively.
That being said, I'm furious that ANOTHER Devil got hit in the face (Fayne) and NOT ONE REFEREE noticed. And on the game tying goal no less! Why is this becoming a common occurrence? At any rate, glad we pulled out the 2 points. I liked what I saw for the most part up until those last 15 minutes. Urbom had an excellent game, as did Tao so a good job by the fill in defensemen. Keep it rolling in Carolina after the break!
Missed the game, but just watched the highlights. These blown leads are worrying, at least they sure are confident in the shootout.
A question for anyone that watched the game and a more general question (I don't have the energy to comb through the GDT) :
1) How did the power play work?
2) The inability to close out games or hold any type of lead has consistently been a problem. I'm not sure if its a tactical/coaching thing or just not playing hard. Insights? This was a problem with DeBoer in Florida too so...maybe I'd lean in that direction. But I really don't know. The easy answer in personnel on defense, but it happens so often that there has to be a more foundational reason.

can someone please tell me why Clarkson takes face-offs on the PP
I assume its so we have a bunch of options for shots immediately off the face-off and also can set up more easily.
I really don't even see a problem with our PP these past few games. We're moving the puck extremely well and just need to get it in the back of the net.
The SH goals are a pain in the butt but ya know, they are going to happen when you cycle too much like we tend to do.
We have the pieces to have a dominant PP and we've seen flashes.. consistency is desperately needed though.
Don't think Foster is around for much longer (when Larsson/Greene/Tallinder return, who do you sit? Salvador? Volchenkov? Fayne?.. its Larsson or Foster and I'd rather Larsson), so hopefully someone like Larsson can soon take over at the point.
Cam Janssen has hardly been a waste of a roster space. He's honestly been ****ing brilliant (For Cam) for the past few weeks.
even cam being useful (for him) is still clearly useless for the team. he blows and belongs nowhere near the professional arena. i don't like the use of a player who can barely play at this level, it is a waste. boulton-carter-zharkov/palmieri is what this team needs. not some scrub who sucks at hockey but can throw down.
there are few players at this level that bring as little to the table as cam does.
