Our team is in 7th. There is no way another coach would have us doing much better. The other teams are built better and are superior. We are playing in a tough conference and division. DeBoer is NOT the problem.

Our arguably two best defensemen this year have been a guy who could qualify to play in the U20 World Championships and a guy who virtually didn't skate at all last year.

That's the ****ing problem.

Band-aiding a problem. JL isn't the answer long term.

I've been saying this for about 2 years, this team needs to learn how to loose before it can win. And compared to last year, it's on the right track. The pieces are starting to come together, now it just needs to keep moving forward. Looking at the Devils game by game isn't painting the true portrait of this squad - young teams are inconsistent.

You can't teach the intangibles this team is getting, but you can teach consistency. That's the road this team is on, players and coaching staff alike.

Agree... what I'm saying is bring JL in as a hands on adviser not Head Coach.

Or we just need everyone back healthy again instead of having to plug guys in.

Eh, growing pains are for the best. Unfortunately the crap we saw last year from JMac wasn't growing pains.

I think we all see the vast differences between the two clubs. Like I said, you really have to look at 5+ game segments and not a game-by-game basis. There's a reason why a guy like Lou Lamoriello talks in segments, clips, streaks, etc. When you break down game-by-game it's only useful for tweaking/teaching small things, not the big picture.

Lose - not getting a win; losing.

Loose - not being tight; loosening

we aren't allowed to correct Global's, RG. be prepared for the hammering.

anyway, i watched this game on DVR and the moment the, er, opponent, made it 1-0, i watched in on FF.

much easier way to watch a loss but it doesnt make the loss an easier.

If you watched the first 10min you watched the best part of the Devils last night.

Bingo.

And btw, Volchenkov had two spectacular assists last night and probably had his best all around game of the year.

I really like Matt Taormina's game. He brings a element this team is lacking and that's a d-men that isn't afraid to shoot it from the point and hit the net for often then not. He's a work in progress prospect but I think he could turn out as a better version of Andy Greene in a couple of years if he continues to progress.

I saw Volchenkov yesterday, he was playing incredibly well for a streak there. I wonder if he'll keep it up, and more importantly can still be a shutdown guy.

I also like the way Urbom is playing. He's a big body that is at least a bit able to be mobile. This team is shaping up for the future, but we simply cannot expect much right now.

I'm not anti-Taormina, but the guy is 25 already. He definitely has room to grow, but I'm not sure how much.

25 is usually the time when a d-man is starting to come into their own. Even if he plays until he's 35, that's another 10 years. He's pretty young...

Missed the game but nearly choked when I saw C. Ward in the box score with a goal.

FWIW, Rafalski was 26 when he rookied who played a game that is similar to that of Tao's (Disclaimer; No I did not imply that Tao plays or has skill like Rafalski)

I was just about to mention Rafalski. Not comparing those two, just pointing out the principle. Agreed.

i think people are way overreacting, right now we are in a playoff spot, that is an improvement over last season.

we have two goaltenders who are average, that is the difference between 1st and 7th in the nhl, not much more not much less. we could use another winger and another stud on defense but so could everyone. look at the best teams in nhl right now and i bet their goalies have save pct's near .920-.950 the mid range teams the goalies are .900-.920.
