The GAS line has gone a bit stale. Anisimov scoreless in his last 7 games. It's a shame having a talent like Wolski sitting in the press box. Rupp has impressed me the most out of the bottom 6 guys.
Wolski cracking the line up. Trade deadline approaching.
With Wolski struggling to make the line up and trade deadline heading this way fast will we see movement of either him or someone else to make way for him?
I know we need a big top three LW or maybe a little more defensive depth but will it happen this season?
Personally I hope we hold on to him but only if he can get games.
He might come in handy to have some extra scoring depth during a potential run in the playoffs. His value is probably at an all time low at the moment. It's not worth trading him
I wouldn't mind Ruuttu at all depending on the cost anyway. He's got good size and skill and he can be a nasty ****er to boot. A legit top 6 forward with edge. Exactly the type of player we should be looking at heading towards the playoffs.
On the blue line there is. Need to add a vet D in my opinion.
Yep, that's my anwer for Melrose Jr--I love the way the defense is playing, but they really lack any significant playoff experience, especially in the later rounds. The playoffs are a marathon and a sprint all rolled into one.
Without taking into account his contract (which makes him a 'no' for me by itself) Vanek wouldn't fit the mold of this Rangers team. He's doesn't play with enough "jam" in his own end to make it in Tortorella hockey.
I loved the way Bourque looked at traverse, and he was alright in preseason, but he's not making an appearance this season unless we lose an entire line.
I feel bad for Wolski. He really hasn't had a chance to prove himself this season. I just hope this makes him work that much harder and that much hungrier.

I would be on board with acquiring a veteran defenseman as well. Right now, Girardi is our most experienced defenseman in the playoffs with only 32 games played.
Recent cup winners have included defensemen that have far more playoff experience than those on our team... Chara and Kaberle on Boston, Campbell and Sopel on Chicago, Gonchar and Gill on Pitt, etc. We could definitely use a 3rd pairing defenseman with substantial playoff experience.
Why the need to fix something that does not need fixing? Shoving Wolski into the top-6 at this point, is trying to force a square peg into a round hole. Dubinsky is just coming out of his slump and now, shift him to 3rd line center?
Unfortunately for Wolsi, he is not an effective bottom-6 line player and the top-6 are doing well without him. As such, his place on the team is cheerleader.

Thank you. Torts put Dubi at 3rd/4th liner when he wasn't going offensively. Now that he is, it's highly unlikely he gets moved away from Richards and Callahan, especially with how that line has been playing the past week.
My worry is Anisimov, especially come playoff time. He hasn't shown me a consistent willingness to be involved when the game gets physical. That's why I'm in favor of adding someone like Ruutu at the right price. AA does a lot of good things, but, he can disappear and play small when the game gets more physical.

I think the fact that he seems to get his clock cleaned every other game is contributing to his hesitation to get in the "dirty" areas even though it's open ice where he gets nailed. He won't be long for this game if he doesn't keep his head up. He's been VERY lucky not to see the IR with some of the hits he's exposed himself to.
