But he stinks and is a bust and is terrible and should be traded and should be killed and should give all his money to charity and should pick a new sport.
I honestly can't understand how the teams medical staff can be so inept.
I don't think that's the issue. This seems to be something they're aware of and have made a decision to have him play through it.
Personally I think that's the wrong decision, and when Couts and Schenn get a few games in and show they're healthy, they ought to slice him open. Right now he's just not effective. He needs that explosive acceleration and he needs to be able to work the boards effectively. Right now he can't do either.

This has nothing to do with it. There are some injuries that you play through because having surgery on it will require a long recovery period in addition to a rest period after. Its probably an injury where you can't just jump right back on the ice the second you're healed up. You might need a month or so to rest it even more. My buddy had a shoulder injury close to this and once it healed he still had to keep from doing any rigorous activity with it for about a month or so.

That's why he should get it taking care of ASAP. If they want to be Cup contenders they're probably going to need a healthy JVR come playoffs.
If this can cause permanent damage then I couldn't care less if Schenn and Couturier are back and ok, just get him the surgery now. If that's not the case then wait and shut him down after the WC. Even if he misses the rest of the season and playoffs.
well im glad he is actually impaired not just playing like ****. Not glad about the injury but oh well, shut the kid down and have him come back beast mode.
Ah man this is what I think I have in my hip, I gotta get it checked out soon but I never wanna stop playing hockey. Yes, it does hurt like a ***** playing hockey and sometimes even doing everyday activities.

This is my feeling as well, but I also don't want him playing the WC. Last I heard, the weather was supposed to be too warm in Philly which means a higher risk of injury. Shut him down now, get him repaired because he's signed for 6 more years.
I fail to see how the supposedly injured Van Useless this season is any different from the Van Useless of the past two seasons. Utterly ineffective, disappointing, and still lauded for all the potential. This time last season he was struggling to keep pace with Andreas Nodl. At least he's had the fluke goal here or there this season to justify his spot in the lineup. But if he has to be kept playing to keep this team afloat throughout the injuries, God have mercy on all our souls...

Did JVR hit you with a Burrito or punt your dog off a bridge or something? You seriously have a deep deep hatred of him.

Why you heff to be mad?
Give me a break. Even if Van Useless wanted to punt my dog off a bridge, he'd still drive wide of the bridge and be easily pushed off my dog. But the potential is surely there!
They should shut him down and rest him if it's serious, and it sounds like it is.
I don't think rest would help the impingement at all. It might give the surrounding tissues time to recover from some inflammation and bruising or what have you, but the impingement itself isn't going anywhere without surgery (as you've probably read by now, it has to do with the shape of his femoral head and hip socket).
I say send him in and get it fixed now. It's not like he's playing through it and producing with no other injuries. Let his abdomen and knee heal while his hip does too. There are other guys who can replace him in his injured form, might as well use them.
...and this is why the Flyers medical staff is probably one of the worst in pro sports. They should not be clearing JVR to play if this is the case. Holmgren needs to fire the entire medical and training staff and get a new group in there. If this were any other team in the league, JVR would have had his hip operated on and he'd be off his feet. You'd figure a world class organization would have a world class medical staff, yet the group they have makes Dr. Nick of The Simpsons seem like a legit doctor. Absolutely sad......
I thought injuries didnt matter in Philadelphia.
JVR really should sit. But of course then we would have people here who would call him a *****. We havent been down this road before.
I have the feeling they learned nothing out of the Richards story last year. He also got injured early in the season. They decided to not repair it. He than plays like **** the whole seasons and canīt get surgery before Playoff time. So he plays like **** in the Play off... After all we traded him and all most of the fans are against him....
What about the Pronger issues... everytime he returns he gets a new injury.
What about the Schenn mystery... everytime he returns he gets a new injury.
It makes me really nervous, when i compare those things with Giroux and JVR....
Players have a say in whether they go under the knife or stay playing while injured. Management and the player come to an agreement in which they feel the most comfortable with. Richards last year said he opted with management and wanted to play with the injury since it wouldn't cause any further or permanent damage if I remember correctly
