Does anyone know when it happened? I know it's says the 1st period but I don't recall any big hit on Gagne or anything.

Could it be the check with 11:34 left in the first period? It doesn't look much, but for someone with concussion history I hear that anything could be enough.

Oh crap, now I saw it, 15 seconds till end of the period. Is that not a penalty? I thought they wanted to prevent things like that. Instead they prefer to give penalties for hits that are completely harmless.

This concussion epidemic is hurting the league more and more.

I go to the front page of TSN and there's 3 new headlines about players being out with concussions (Shea Weber, Gagne, Liles). Something has to be done.

I don't have access to a DVR anymore due to being in a transitional period as it relates to housing but I assume the hit was the one that took place behind the net near the end of the period. I sit on that end and felt it was a hit that deserved immediate retribution but, of course, there wasn't any. Now we find out that the hit casued a concussion and he's going to be out of the lineup.

I'm so tired of this team's softness. I almost feel that this team requires a priest delivering last rites to a fallen teammate before they will get their hands dirty. Even when they do something, it's half-hearted, gloved-shoves with a scolding.

One of the few strengths of this team is its penalty kill, yet they don't step up on dangerous hits. This team needs to regain the balls it lost when Simmonds left. There needs to be some swift justice handed out as opposed to asking if it's okay first and then having the refs jump in.

A team that is "together" and plays hard for one another doesn't have these issues. If you don't think its important or telling, you haven't been watching hockey for too long.

As expected, Gagne put on IR per Hammonds.

Hopefully, we'll get to see Lokti on the top line with Kopi and Brownie.

If he plays, I would expect him to play with Richards and Lewis.

Why change more lines than you have to? This isn't Murray's team anymore.

Well, in case you haven't noticed, Richie-Richards-Lewis really looked good together in the 3rd period. So, keep that line intact and give Lokti a shot on the top line.

GWS gags

hopefully its not a season ending injury

I hope sutter doesnt mess with the lines too much. Everyone should stay in the same position. Lotki to 2nd LW perhaps? Or move williams to the 2nd line, put lotki as a RW on the 3rd line?

That's exactly what Sutter is doing. According to Jim Fox's twitter, all lines remain intact with Loktionov moving in for Gagne as the 2nd line LW.

You know it is possible to get a concussion from perfectly legal hits right?

I'm so glad that Murray is gone.

Huge test tonight against Chicago.

Go Kings!

I don't think there is need for the sarcasm as my post doesn't imply in any way that I believe such thing not to be possible.

Check this post for my thoughts on this:

Bad News: Gagne season at risk.

Quote:
Gagne is nowhere close to returning to game action and that his availability for the rest of the season might be in doubt. The Kings would be allowed to put Gagne on long-term injured reserve, but they would only get salary-cap relief if they spent up to the cap maximum, this season or next season. Of course, things can change — and, for Gagne’s sake, hopefully will — but right now, Gagne does not seem headed for the type of short-term recovery that Mike Richards, for instance, had this season.

WILLIAMS: He had a big beard last night. He said, `Don’t talk to me about my concussion until I shave my beard.’ So I look at him and I just ask him how his day is going.’

edit: can a mod change the title?

Well, just another thing Lombardi needs at the deadline, another LW. Penner couldn't hit the water falling out of a boat and Gagne is likely done for the season.

Stoll for Boyes?

Don't worry, Penner will pick up the slack. He's good for at least two more goals before the end of the season.
