Carter and Richards COULD play for the Phantoms

Should they choose to do so, it seems as though Carter and Richards COULD play for the Phantoms if they wanted to. All they would have to do is sign a pair of 1 year deals with the Phantoms and I don't believe that would affect their status as prospects.

The article focused on three players who had already played a full season of NHL hockey and normally would not under the expired bargaining agreement be eligible to return to their junior teams. Carter and Richards haven't played in the NHL and would still have junior eligibility.

Unfortunately, the article didn't directly discuss how this would affect players such as Carter and Richards, but an NHL representative stated clearly that the rules regarding junior players (not necessarily just those who have played an entire year) were no longer enforceable due to the lack of a new agreement. So ultimately, you're probably right on the mark, Diesel.

Those 3 players that the article mentioned also had Junior eligability as well. I don't think the fact that they've already played a season in the NHL makes them any different than Carter and Richards here.

Send a message via AIM to FlyersProspect2
It would be good to see them playing in a level higher than juniors to help their development since they can't develope in the NHL
