Washington Capitals (17-15-2)
Two games into that stretch, the only climbing the Caps have done is trying to climb their way back into those two games. Washington dug a 3-0 hole for itself on Friday in New Jersey and a 4-0 first-period crevice on Monday night in Buffalo. The Caps were able to storm back to take a point in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Devils, but absorbed a 4-2 loss to the Sabres.
“It’s a little frustrating,” says Caps center Nicklas Backstrom, “especially when you know what you can do out there. We’ve seen a little bit of the power play and stuff, but if you’re going to win hockey games you’ve got to put everything together and make sure you have a good combination of everything. That’s what we’re trying to do, but we’re doing too many mistakes out there.
Glad to opportunity watching this game on public Russian TV. Believe in Caps. In Russia we all believe in Ovi. Almost all of us. Honestly, just Me and those two crazy guys from Siberia. But who cares? Good luck. Hope to see the squad tonight, not a selfish players.
The Caps will play better tonight. Tighten up and play disciplined on defense. Ovie is about to break out. Of course, Lundqvist is a Hell of a goalie. Should be a good one.
Personnel changes are needed but I'm with RandyHolt that the 1st period of the Buff game after Christmas on the road is nothing to take too seriously. If they suck it the rest of the week I'll prepare the torches.
@ Atlas, I call those "feel good" games for the home team. Let them have it.
Our tending while shoddy overall early in games; but I'd wager the record will show they are not getting early goal support themselves. If a team always gives up an early goal, no matter the reason, its one of those here we go again scenarios. We need to come out strong, and its no magic trick. You need to hit early and often. You can just flip the switch and say, hey lets score early today. Just a few big hits and everyone will say we came out strong.
Coming out strong is all about hitting; setting the tone, creating energy in the stands and on the bench, forcing turnovers, imposing our will, putting any timid players in their place; making a statement that its not going to be another laugher. Shiat, Ovi is bringing it tonight.
