It's a game, the game is called hockey. PUT THE PUCK IN THE NET!!
It doesn't matter who is in net or who your opponent is.
Unless we are talking about little league baseball or youth sports, then I'm more open to "slaughter rules" or "mercys".
But if we have men participating in a sport, who cares. PLAY THE GAME. Cannot blame Strome for doing his job, which is scoring.
This. Hockey is a sport that rolls lines. It's not like football where you take your starters out and let backups finish the game. And from a player standpoint, what would you like them to do? Shoot wide on purpose? Play lazy? Shoot in their own nets to make it closer?

Reason: Not necessary.
Seems like Rhakshani is out with another damned concussion. What is this guys future if he can't keep the melon from getting soft. Talented guy but it is getting a little worrisome.

My bad, seems like he played last game. Hope he stays healthy for the occasional call up.

no concussion, he played last night and had 2 goals!
First a Niagara player runs Erie's goalie, making no attempt to avoid contact.. Then Niagara's best player feels the need to net not 3, not 4, but a 5th goal against a team playing without a legit goalie because of that earlier play... call me crazy, but Strome's lucky he didn't take a stick to the face or get run at in some sort of way......... I'm a Strome fan.. I'm an Islanders fan, but in my opinion, it was a scummy move....
For you guys saying you can't stop playing... well when a football game gets out of hand, the respectful thing to do is run the ball... stop passing, and if your up by 30, you don't kick a field goal... so the hockey version of this would be, pass instead of shoot..... or shoot wide.... or don't put Strome out there with a 10 goal lead... Again, having Strome out there with a 10 goal lead is like asking the other team to take a run at him.
Am I the only one that noticed that the goalie was WAY out of his crease??? I don't even think that should have been a penalty the player looked back at the goalie after watching the puck at the point only to see he was way out of the crease and he had no time to avoid him. If he was in the crease he would have had time to avoid him. I don't think it was scummy at all. Watch the replay, goalie is nowhere near the blue, not even his back leg strap on his pads is breaking the line of the goalie crease lol...
checking out stats for Petrov, Kabanov, and et al. can't wait for some of these guys to get a chance in Bridgeport/NHL. I still get excited for the future :-)
And what's up with Matt Donovan tearing it up in BP... very promising!

Nope... what I think happened was the other guy was skating not looking at the goaltender so he ran into him because the goalie was so far out of the crease... people just need anything to complain about it seems
So, for those interested, here are the final standings in the SEL. Sundstrom's Frolunda finished fifth in the league and is facing Brynas in the playoffs, a team that features some top NHL prospects, namely Larsson, Jarnkrok and Silfverberg. http://estat.hockeyligan.se/c/LTable.aspx?LId=248
Here are the stats for Sundstrom's team. Their topscorer is a Norwegian who had 32 points in 60 AHL games last season. Sundstrom finished with 6-5-11 in 49 games in a primarily 3rd/4th line role. Those stats look A LOT like Ullstrom's at that age. http://estat.hockeyligan.se/c/LPlaye...ayerPosition=0

All though not a prospect Mike Marcou from Smithtown who plays at UMASS and attended the last two Isles prospects camp and did well will become a College free agent when his season ends in the next couple of weeks .Umass plays BC in 1 rd of HE playoffs starting this weekend .I hope the Isles try to at least sign him to an ATO

I was really impressed by Sundstrom when I was watching the WJHC. He looked bigger than his listed 6'2". Though he could definitely bulk up. I kind of wish he was coming over next season to play in Junior Hockey. But two more years in the men's league may help him better than junior hockey. Seems like he finished the season strong. He finished with 6 goals, and the team leader had 22. So his 6 goals aren't so bad for a young guy playing bottom 6 minutes. Not sure, but I think he can play one more World Junior Championship next season, which I believe would be his 3rd.
Still too early to tell who'll be the better goaltender, but it's nice to have 2 guys like Poulin and Nilsson in the system. I will say that both look like they'll be good ones.
Poulin is probably ready to be the back up next year and Nilsson may need one more year at the Bridge.
I would say they are about even, Nilsson seems to be playing great right now though. Hot streak maybe? Or is he really this good?
Didn't Poulin have a similar hot streak around Dec/Jan? The fact that both goaltenders have each won a Player of the Week/Month type awards in the AHL is a very positive sign.
Poulin needs a cool nickname though, Nilsson leads him in that department. Anders the Giant and Thor.
Nilsson had a great performance vs NJ and was the goalies of the month in the AHL.
Nilsson is in front of Poulin now ?
Seriously judging after 1 game?
I like Nilsson, but I still think Poulin is ahead. He's already proved he can play in the NHL, I just think he needs more consistency. And lets not forget, he was the AHL Goalie of the Month the month before Nilsson won it. Besides, in the NJ game Nilsson wasn't tested as much. So yeah, Poulin is still ahead for me.

I also look to the the fact he was top 3 in the SEL last year.

poulin needs to work on catching the puck and controlling his rebounds...nilsson needs to work on staying upright longer...i think poulin wil be a good nhl goalie...i think anders will be a great one..he is more technically sound and when positioning and techniques meet a 6'5" frame watch out. from watching them both on a nightly basis..when they are both playing well..honestly its not even close the ammount of raw talent that anders has is mind blowing

This!
Poulin is athletic
Nilsson is a monster is net, giving up very little to shoot at.
Ak Bars Kazan eliminated last seasons champion Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the first round of the KHL playoffs last night. Petrov scored Ak Bars second goal, and was out on the ice in the final minute as they held on for the 3 - 2 win. I believe that says a lot about what his coach thinks of his game.
