Chances are very high that Kichton will be signed this summer and in BPort next year.

I don't think this team takes the chance that he's another Spurgeon who gets away from them.

In addition, they lost Kessel for nothing and will prolly be looking to see at least one if not two of de Haan, Ness and Donovan being regulars on the Island next year (for better or worse).

Bridgeport in general could be a very fun team to watch next season. If Brock and Lee head over, as well as Kichton and the Kirill's, we will have some major youth/talent up there. I'm assuming at least 3 of deHaan, Donovan, Ness and Katic will still be playing for the Soundtigers next year. Add Kichton to that and we have some serious talent both on the blue-line and up front next season. God forbid we have to deal with injuries, we should be able to address them rather easily.
If Brock wins the national championship this year, I can see him coming into the fold this summer. Otherwise, I think they'll leave him there for another year.

I see the team adding Lee, Kichton, Kabanov and Persson per ELC this summer. Question is, will they be resigning guys like Wishart, Romano and Dibenedetto? Don't really see it happening. Is Koskinen's contract running out too? I think so. Katic needs to be resigned and I do kind of see that coming. Showed too much in his short stint last season to be allowed to walk after a season lost to injury.

The biggest questions after that are then whether Strome will be brought in (although some folks have mentioned that he's not AHL eligible) and whether Niederreiter will be given his year of AHL action, which would simply be the right thing to do at this point.

Quote:
A bit OT, but speaking of Petrov: Anyone think he would come over next year if he doesn't make the Isles out of camp? I'd love to see him in Bridgeport for a little bit, but I don't know if that's something he would consider. If that is the case, his agent needs to explain to him that playing in BP will only be a temporary thing. If his talent is legit, I'm sure it won't take long for him to earn himself a call-up.
It's not OT. Actually, there's plenty of reason to assume he'll only wanna come over if he's promised a job in the NHL.

I think more likely is that he'll be offered a one-way ELC (if that's possible) and then Snow will hope his agent will be open to convincing Kirill that they WANT him to immediately be in the Islanders' line-up, but would like him to be open to some developmental play in the AHL, if the coaching staff deems it necessary.

Let's just hope Petrov has the NHL in his sites BIG-TIME, because he kind of holds the cards right now.

And I for one am certain that he can come in here and have an immediate impact, especially in the 2nd half of next season, once he's gotten used to things in NA and the smaller rinks, where he's actually been VERY good in international play.

No he will make the team and play 6 min a nite on the Fourth line... See Nino

Nino would of developed better if we just sat him at the Mariot the whole season and got him the center ice package imo...

I was hoping the Islanders would draft Hamilton or Oleksiak. In a way, it's kind of depressing to see they're doing so well.

That's why the Islanders need to draft Trouba or Dumba if they're available this year, regardless of where they draft. Nail is another midsize player that will get beat on every night the way that teams target JT and will target Strome when he's in the NHL.

The lack of size on the Islanders is one of the reasons they fade late in games. Teams know they'll wear down if they continue to play physical against them.

I don't know if anybody else see's this, but does Kevin Poulin remind anybody of a poor man's M.A. Fleury? I don't know why, it just looks like that to me

Don't get me wrong, I like Nelson. But when people see 8 goals in 42 games it doesn't look very good. Compare it to Kreider who had 15 goals in 38 games and an excellent WJC, and it is easy to see why people jumped on the Krieder bandwagon.

Nelson has exploded this year, but too many people (wrongly) wrote him off last year.

I read a comment from Petrov,it might have been right after being drafted or after attending prospect camp, where he said he would be willing to go to Bridgeport.

Aftera couple of seasons of playing in the KHL,I am not sure if he'd still be willing.Having Kabanov there would be a positive.

Kreider is flashy too, 6-3 220 pounds with blazing speed and hits. Nelson just produces, nothing too flashy, kinda like a bigger Matt Moulson. It's kind of like Dubinski vs Mouslon, Dubinski has size, can skate, hit, fight, but Moulson just goes about his business and scores 30 goals every year.

not comparing him to Tavares but... The hand-eye coordination and cool, calm composure he showed on that goal were Taveresesque

OHL Western Conference Coaches' Poll results here.

No Andrey Pedan, but Mike Halmo finds his name in two categories (1st in hardest worker, 3rd in best bodychecker).

Also, two guys I've seen Isles fans listing in their wishlist for the upcoming NHL draft, Nail Yakupov and Tom Wilson, get nods.

Nah, when he smiles, I KNOW Poulin can find a woman. Fleury? Maybe if Ned Beatty is rafting nearby.

Wow, Brock Nelson has more than 2x as many points as his freshman season (43 vs 21) and more than 3x as many goals (26 vs 8), in 3 less games than his freshman season. I'd say that is quite impressive !

Sweet goal. 26th of the year, but the call "that lanky body".
Brock has some time, but at 6'4" he will have to fill out that lanky body......although he does look a lot like Couturier physically.
Pretty excited about his upside with the Isles, a scoring centerman who is defensively responsible. Could be a very good #2 center pushing Strome to a wing, or at worst.....a superb #3 center.

Looks like a good player, but he has to throw his frame around a little more.

BTW - That is one of the best avatars I have seen in here.

Freshmen, especially on the DU squad, never fare very well. Nick Shore is doing exceptionally well right now but Zac Larazza, Ty Loney, Scott Mayfield to name a few, aren't doing so well. I bet Mayfield picks up his game a bit next season when he takes over the #1 spot and maybe Seth Jones joins us at DU

The kid's personality just bugs me a bit. He's a very reserved kid.

Heard similiar thing about Trivino when he was a freshman, that it's hard to get minutes.

Nelson can lift the puck well in the perimeter... will score a lot of garbage goals in the NHL. But that's not a bad thing when you put "a lot" in the same sentence as "goals"

1-0 UND on a Nelson goal.

Brock Nelson just potted another one.... crashed the net, got the rebound and roofed a backhander.
