Not without him going into rehab and joining a support group.
His problem with Parker was alcohol abuse and he was warned that if he was caught drunk again he would be off the team. Giving a kid a second chance is fine as long as he commits to cleaning up and staying sober.
I agree that's what should happen, but whatever actually happens, in terms of conditions, is up to the Islanders.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Garth will FINALLY learn his lesson with what happened to Nino this year, and play it conservative next year by returning Strome to juniors for one more year.... I also think Nelson will return to North Dakota for one more year.... and if that is the case, in 2013-2014, I think all three of Strome, Nelson and Lee will not only be ready to make the team, but be ready to contribute..... that will also be the year Nino is realistically ready to contribute as well.... maybe even Kabanov...... if Petrov comes over this year, we'll have him entering his second year as well..... Cizikas and Ullstrom will both have a full year under there belts...
and on D, perhaps De Haan and Donovan are both ready....
As of now, 2013-2014 looks like the year many of these prospects will be ready to go...

We thought he learned from Bailey.
All joking aside, and we'd take a hit for this, but if there is a work stoppage in the fall, Nino AND Strome can play in the AHL. It's going to suck if we don't have hockey for another full year, but maybe as Islander fans, we could use a break from this crap, too.

Maybe we will get a chance at Seth Jones in the draft.
Donovan, Ullstrom, and Cizikas will be on the NHL roster in 2012-2013.
Kabanov, Niederreiter, DeHaan and Petrov will spend time in both the NHL and AHL.
Nelson, Kichton, Ness, and Sundstrom will spend most to all of next year in the AHL.
Can someone enlighten me on the status of our goalie prospects?
Something tells me when Nelson makes the jump, he'll bypass Bridgeport.... I think one more year at North Dakota, then straight to the island...
As far as our goalies, Nabakhov was signed to a ONE year extension to give Nilsson and
Poulin one more year to mature and hopefully one of the two steps up and earns the #1 spot for 2013/2014.... they may very well be our two goalies on the 2013/2014 roster...

Yea I posted that link in this thread last week. I concur, but if he's willing to get help, I think he can be at the very least a depth player.

Or Nathan McKinnon.
I wouldn't be upset about Seth Jones, though. I'd only be upset about another sucky season if we actually play again and still have a chance at these guys.

Didn't Sundstrom sign on for two more years with Frolunda?
Staple thinks that Kichton wiill go back to Seattle for another season.
Nino should spend most of next year in BPort repairing his shattered confidence.
If he produces as he should he could get a late season call-up but he has a LOT of work ahead of him to be top 3 line ready in the NHL.

GJ, do you have a link from Staple about Kichton? I have a hard time believing him playing as an overager, especially after two consecutive pt per game season. It would be a drastic mistake. If anything I see Persson playing an OA season, he needs to work with whomever Tavares worked with so he improves his skating.
And, yes Sundstrom did re-sign two years, but I am almost certain he will come to NA, after next season.
Nelson and Lee were the most impressive players in the rookie camp this year. Strome looked good in spurts as well but both Nelson and Lee looked like they were a cut above the rest.
That said, I don't see ANY prospect that doesn't absolutely need time in the AHL.
College hockey is several steps below the AHL, let alone the NHL. A player stepping right in is rare, very rare.
Tyler Bozak, Matt Frattin were highly productive NCAA players who finished four years there and still haven't been that great in the NHL. Matt Read is one of the rare exceptions, though playing on that Flyers team helps him a great deal.

Let's hope the NYI do things right for a change.

Gustav Nyquist scored his first NHL goal yesterday, assisted by Pavel Datsyuk. He's the same age, same draft year as Josh Bailey. Detroit's made the playoffs 21 straight seasons. I don't need to explain further.

Rare, there has been a few just from North Dakota the last few years, Toews, Parise, Oshie, Stafford sure there is a lot more.
Donovan has been great this year. They don't keep TOI in the AHL, but Donovan must be playing somewhere around 25-30 minutes a game. He's not too physical but he's very clever defensively and can be relied on to play defense if needed.
I think he should be in the NHL next year if we have to choose between him, Ness, and deHaan.
