wedgewood played great in the first, made some nice saves throughout, hope he gets the game vs. U.S.

Czech goalie kept his team in this game because Canada could've easily won this one 8-0 or even 10-0. Best game I've seen Strome play & Scheifele finally showed up. He was invisible for the 1st two periods tho.
Canada can't take so many penalties, but so far they look like the best team in their group.

Gallgher had his chances & spent a lot time in front of the net and around the crease. I thought Bournival played better than he did against the Fins, while Beaulieu was fine. In fact, I thought as a group Canada's defense is very very good.

illegal hit to the head with less than 5 minutes left means automatic 10 minute misconduct.

Beaulieu should be playing more than guys like Oleksiak Pysyk Harrington.

It has nothing to do with time left, it's 2 and 10 for all hits to the head(unless obviously it's a major).

I was saying the same thing to my family, I don't think Hay likes certain things about his game for some reason.

Absolutely not. Beaulieu is where he belongs right now. 7th D/PP specialist. I hate seeing him with Gormley on the PP though. The PP is much better with Hamilton/Beaulieu on the blueline. Then Gormley/Harrington or Oleksiak.

He has played more than Pysyk over the last 2 games. It looks like Pysyk has settled into the #7 D role. Beaulieu is #6. I think Oleksiak & Harrington had really strong games. Beaulieu though not physical is very good with his stick. He knows how to get his stick into the passing lanes & block people out.

Cant say Im impressed with Beaulieu personally.. will have to be paired with a strong physical stay at home defenseman in the future..

I disagree. Beaulieu is exactly what I expected: VERY strong in carrying the puck (a major quality in the NHL today for a defenceman) through the neutral zone, great jump over the opposing blue line, which is great. He's keeping his game very simple in his zone, using the lob or the boards if needed.

Yes, he will have to be paired with a solid defensive d-guy, but that's a given for any team with a potent offensive defenceman. Paul Coffee wasn't playing with Siltanen...Beaulieu is a keeper in my mind. Moreso than Gallagher, who, while a hard worker, hasn't shown me the skillset to be a very prolific 1st or 2nd line player.

Oh, what do we have to give in order to get Jonathan Huberdeau? Give them 3 first rounders, don't care. This kid is beautiful to watch. Florida will be a force in a 3-4 years from now, just like Chicago is.

Yeah, Huberdeau has basically impressed me almost every single time he's on the ice. Great player they have on their hands.

Well he's scored over 40 goals in the WHL two years running and is on pace to smash those numbers this year. Finish is not Gallagher's problem. Size is his major concern, but he'll be one of those rare diminutive players that excels despite his lack of size. I'm not worried about him at all. He's another Gionta, he never quits and scores plenty. It should be noted that he played himself into a scoring role from the checking role he was assigned at the start of the tournament.

Maybe not at the junior level but it was the same at the camp, was creating alot but very little finish..

I could see him being paired with a solid stay at home type as he does seem to have some Brisebois like brainfarts with the puck in his own end, but with his impressive skating/mobility to go with his offensive skills and he appears to have good physical strength I'm not worried about him. Should be interesting to see how much he can progress over the next couple of years though, can't wait to see him in Hamilton next year!

It's hard to gauge players based off junior scoring though, I remember when Duncan Milroy had 92 pts in his draft year as a 17 year old in the dub. Not comparing them just that it's hard to say what kind of production we can expect from him once he turns pro next year. He does remind me a bit of Gionta, but Gio has much better speed. For me when you are talking about guys under say 5'10, I find they either need to have great speed or impressive lower body strength (or both in the case of St-Louis) but at 19 he's got time to continue to improve as he appears to have made big strides in his skating/foot speed since his draft year, so who's to say how much he can continue to improve over a couple of years.
