Personal Ties to Rangers

I thought it may be interesting to share our personal ties with this amazing origination other than just being a part of the worlds greatest fan base. After winning 5 Stanley Cups with Montreal my uncle, don Marshall was traded to the Rangers and still talks highly of the organization despite having played for such a storied franchise as Montreal. It was also nice to see that he was voted 75th on the Rangers 100 all time greats! anyone else have interesting ties to this team?

I once hugged someone who hugged Mike Richter.

I've never been happier.

It would appear to be.

My friend's brother lives with Mike Rupp and his wife, that's all I've got.

Oh and my brother, searching for a new girlfriend, met a girl at a bar and she told him that she dated a hockey player and that the guy was a huge jackass and only wanted to get inside her pants. She said his last name was Del Zotto.

So my brother got with DZ's ex.

No guys, not a bragging thread, sorry it came across like that. I'm just so bloody proud of my ties with this team, you would understand more living in Montreal and being such a huge Ranger fan, you have no idea of the amount of flack I take! Sorry for sounding like a pompous a**, it wasn't the point of this thread at all!

I was at the home opener against Toronto last year at MSG and since than have never been to a Mtl. Rangers game here. being able to sit and cheer without getting razzed was bloody amazing. I did make it on the Canadiens top 10 games of all time dvd. I was there when we were up 5-0 nothing and lost 6-5!! they have my standing up cheering with my beer laughing and by mid way third period when it was 5-4 they have my sitting there in a state of shock!!!....lol

I think I win this thread. My dad knows a lady who claims to be Kris Newbury's aunt, or something like that. Last year she said she'd get me an autograph, I'm still waiting in extreme anticipation.

Don Marshall was finishing around my 1st year as Ranger fan, '68.
Memory is dim (as for most on that team) but he was a good player and class act.

I met some of the usual guys who usually make themselves available from time to time for pet causes/functions, guys like Leetch, LaFontaine, Graves. Real class guys.

Want to make special shout out in that group to Rod Gilbert, only one I have had opportunity to break bread (coffee + bagel counts) with; he is a first class nice guy.

I met the whole team week after they won Stanley Cup in 1994. They had a huge party in a Russian restaurant "National" on Brighton Beach Ave in Brooklyn. It was a closed party with some exceptions. Me and my friends had a table reserved their that night. I was fortunate enough to have pictures made with Messier, Leetch, Richter, Kovalev, Zubov, Karpovtsev (RIP), Tikkanen(was wasted that night), Nemchinov, Beukeboom Graves and the Stanley Cup that they carried with them. Unfortunately these pictures were taken by a professional photographer that gave us pictures the next day, therefore they all unsigned.
I guess I have to scan them in to my PC and post them one day.

I also met Zubov that same month when he and his pregnant wife came in to make some shopping to "Jimmy's" clothing store that was on Kings Hwy in Brooklyn. I was working as a sales person at that store. They used to sell all brand name and very expensive clothing for man and woman these days. Zubov end up spending 10,000 on his American Express card. After that We both had a cigarette outside of the store. I was shocked when find out that he smokes.
