I'm ready to deal Legwand

Tired of seeing him coast around out there while folks like Smith, Wilson, Tootoo and others are working their tails off.

Im not, hes our best forward on both sides of the puck. And hes leading our team in goals scored. Look at the record without him. Hes tooooo important.

You want to deal our goal leader and second highest scoring forward who plays both the PP and the PK AND is one of the best backchecking forwards in the game because he is coasting?

He has a NTC, btw

That has to say it all since what I said earlier was nuked by the mods. Honestly one of the worst ideas I've heard in a long, long time.

My bad on the NTC.

So you guys are thrilled with the effort Legwand puts in?

Legwand has always looked liked that. It's just the way he skates and the way he plays the game, which is more calculated than balls to the wall. His effectiveness as a two way player can't be denied.

Unless you watch not only every game, but also every practice I highly doubt you know the amount of effort that a player puts forth.

Oh, my bad. I guess we'll all refrain from making any observations then, since none of us attend every game and practice.

I agree his effort sometimes I'm not the fondest of... but he continues to help us win and has some big goals this year.. no way we trade him..

I do think there are better options for the money sometimes but we have what we have and he is a huge piece to our team

I don't know about Leggy, though I agree he's looked a tad lazy as of light. I'd try to trade SK first, then Erat (NTC, i know), and maybe even fish before leggy.

Eh, let's trade every forward sans Willy. They're all loligaggers. If you want to know what lazy is, take a look at Arnot his last year as a Pred. Arnot deserved to go. Leggy - I don't think so.

Now that Legwand's yearly salary is on the decline, there is really no reason not to like him.

The guy I'm ready to deal is Rinne. I mean look at how many times he decides to just lay down or sit down when the puck gets near him...talk about lazy.

For that matter, trade Tootoo. After he scores last night he just lays down on the ice. Crazy.

He has the occasional crappy shift like the one leading to Detroit's first goal the other night but he's overall a solid player.

Right now he's the team's leading goal scorer, able to play ES PK and PP time, and his oft maligned cap hit was on the trend line for career points per game / cap hit at the time he signed his deal. He isn't a flashy player, but he's very effective. A good skater, responsible in all zones, and able to put up decent numbers when he has talented linemates (compare this year or 06-07 to say ... the Ward/Legwand/Smithson years).

At risk of derailing this thread, why trade away a fourth line grinder who hits, provides energy, can battle along the boards, is good in the dot, and can play PK? And what kind of player should we replace him with? A skilled guy who can provide offense but cannot do any of the other things? Then, who do we put on our fourth line? Our PK?

Smithson isn't a flashy guy, but he's a solid vet who does his job well and for not a lot of money. No reason to trade him. Besides, I'm not really sure what you get for Smithson that does any good right now. Even in a package deal he's a throw-in that can be replaced with any number of assets that aren't providing what he does.

honestly, because he is quickly becoming a liability on the ice. He has taken a few penalties here of late 200 feet from our own net. can't have that from a 4th liner. He seems a bit slower than in years past as well to me. I think the only thing keeping him here right now is that he is a vet and we have a ton of kids and really don't need one more. This would be a better team with a mueller centering 24 and 57 right now.

The pk forward thing is a bit overblown when legwand, erat, fisher, sk, spaling, halischuck, bourque, and even tootoo can play the pk.
