Such a novel concept, right? Too bad Terry Murray wasn't a believer.

Glad to get this win. Boys played well and deservedly gave the Hawks a shut out in their own house. I'm sure that had to sting. I'll take it. Damn, I WILL TAKE IT

Quick is playing like he always has. Great vision and solid reflexes.

Does anybody know how the Kings are ranked on the PK? I heard one of the NHL Live guys say earlier this week the kings had an 87% kill.
they mentioned NJ was top PK team

Why does Kompton still have a job? Isn't there anybody out there who knows how to run an offense and and PP???

11/38 I think. His best years were when he was younger though. He likes to try to slip it through the 5 hole like he did with his SHG against Howard earlier in the season, but I think goalies started to catch onto it. A lot of times I see him trying to hit the corner of the net, but he usually misses.

From CSN Chicago, Joel Quenville thought both goals should have been disallowed...

Quote:
“I thought both their goals should’ve been whistled down. There should’ve been infractions on both,” said Quenneville, who thought there was goaltending interference on the first goal and a slew foot on the second. “Clearly the refereeing tonight was tough to watch, but we still had a lot of chances at the other end, and unfortunately you’re not going to win the game when you don’t score a goal.”
Also, why doesn't Quick get more credit for how good he is? He and the Kings get little airplay on the national shows. He's so good, if not for him, this team would have been in last place after November.
I think the Kings must feel like the Bruins at times, playing confident when your team is nursing a 1-0 lead. "
God knows the Flyers don't have that, their 10 million dollar mistake Bryz doesn't give that warm fuzzy even with a 3-0 lead. In 24 games played this year, Bryz had given up more than 4 goals in 10 of them.
He cracks like an egg under pressure and at home (pressure/Philly fans and media) his GA is much higher (3.57) thano n the road.

sad day for hawks, excuses is what the players fall back onto for their lackadaisical performance. But anywho go kings, honestly way to make an impression, i love you Darryl

(on using the fourth line on the power play…)
SUTTER: “It was a four-minute power play, so you just can’t use two groups. It was good to reward guys, too. It’s not a right, that everybody gets on the (power-play units). It’s nice to put some hard-working guys out there.”

Amen. Ice time is a huge motivational factor, even with professionals.

Using Penner on the PK has to give him some confidence too. Kings have one of the top groups in the NHL and Sutter isn't afraid to use anyone.

One time Brent Sutter used 5 defenseman on the Flames PP because the regular unit wasn't playing hard enough.

I'd imagine Darryl has a similar mentality.

No. 1 Star: Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings
Quick made 38 saves in the Kings' 2-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks to keep his team unbeaten in regulation in the Darryl Sutter era. Los Angeles is now 3-0-1 over that span. The shutout was his league-leading fifth of the season. Trent Hunter scored the game-winner midway through the second.

I'm not surprised by the Hawks' reaction tonight...I don't think its poor sportsmanship, I think its more "gamesmanship."

The Hawks can see the Kings coming on...they know that they could very well meet them in the playoffs.

It is getting interesting.

You got that right.

Minny's free fall continues, all the way to 11th place. Book it.

I also expect St. Louis and Dallas to come down to earth as well.

But that's just the conference...Kings are actually only one point out of first place in the Pacific, the weakest division (point-wise) in the entire league.

We still have a shot at the third seed, believe it or not.

Kings still need 6-7 wins out of the next nine to get themselves comfortably back in the race. The Sharks have several games in hand and the kings dug themselves a pretty big hole to climb out of.

One thing I know for sure about Drew Doughty: nobody smiles bigger after a big win.

The kid has really been on my good side lately. What a huge boost for this team to have him back to his old form.

I made that point over a month ago and everybody shrugged it off at the time.

The Sharks have had three games in hand on the Kings since...well, since forever, it seems. I haven't bothered to check the schedule to see when those games will finally even out, but the Sharks really have to go into at least a mini-slump for the Kings to realistically have a shot at the top seed in the Pacific.

Best game of the year, I think. Quick was awesome, Doughty's looking very good lately, etc., etc.

Most importantly, though, is that the Kings were winning battles in front of the Chicago net tonight. They didn't back down, and really took the game to the Hawks. I loved it, keep it up!
