Take the kids to the bar with you. My dad took me to the bar just about everyday with him when I was a kid and I turned out farking beautiful. Plus I know how to break somebodies nose with my forehead as a bonus.

Think I will call TWC tomorrow and give them an ear full. Doubt it changes anything but I will at least be vocal.

Complaining to either MSG or TWC is going to get you nowhere--no matter how polite/profane you are. Rather than beating your head against the wall of corporate control, it would be better to complain to the BBB, the NYC Public Advocate's office or the State Attorney General's office--these advocates might be able to force the two parties back to the table or force a cooling off period.

Trust me, I've worked on several levels of customer service and while the poor person (who probably doesn't even take home minimum wage after payroll taxes) who takes your complaint will pass it up the chain of command like a good cog, the most you will get out of it is some form letter--then they will fill your complaint in the resolved file, which will get dumped in some box and taken to some storage unit for however long they are required to keep it.

Nope, the blackout areas are geographical (and part of the league rules). NHL Network and Center Ice cannot unblock an MSG broadcast just because they don't carry MSG.

The only games that you will see are either on NBC or VS.

Just waiting for the corporate spin doctors to come up with some b.s. announce to make TWC look like the good guys in all this.
I've been told that the main sticking point is not the fee for MSG, but the fact that they are demanding a huge increase in the amount they get for FUSE (also owned by MSG). That's why FUSE was dumped several weeks ago.

They are asking the same amount that Fios and Directtv are paying. If you sold a product, and two of your major customers were paying X amount of dollars for your product, would you allow your 3rd major customer to pay only X/2?

The really bad thing about this is a lot of people living in the city really don't have a choice.

I just called my father (Verizon Engineer) to see if there was any way to get FiOS to my apartment building (in Queens). He told me that sometimes they have the capability to get FiOS to the building, but simply haven't gotten around to actually wiring it up yet. Meaning, lines are run through the area, but they haven't wired up any given building just yet due to work priority or other reasons. He's going to contact the engineer for my area and see if there's any way I can get FiOS. I think if they have a request for service in a building, it gives the building way higher priority as far as getting wired up. He suggested that people give the FiOS customer service number a call and ask if service is available or can be made available. Also, the website doesn't always have the most up-to-date info regarding availability of FiOS, so you can't really go by that alone.

I wouldn't have this problem had Verizon not been half-assed in installing service for other potential customers.

Three months and I have no Fios yet everyone across the street has it.

At least the internet is stable with TWC.

Eh, that's just how it is right now. The craft employees (line crews, splicers, installers, etc.) are still working without a contract after being on strike ~6 months ago. Work is going to go really slow until they get a new contract.

Even before the strike, they moved like molasses, and the way they went about installing the few streets before was ridiculous. I'll give TWC credit with installing digital cable: When they came, they came like the plague. Digging up streets, putting new wiring and going block to block, accordingly.

If I were to show you the streets that have and don't have Fios, you'd think they decided it by throwing darts on a map.

I'm not disagreeing with you. My dad tells me about his jobs getting messed up all the time.

Why are so many people blaming Time Warner for this? Is it because MSG owns the Rangers? Both sides are at fault, but mostly MSG. Have you seen the price increase they are requesting? Dolan and company are gouging the cable companies and, in essence, subscribers to create more revenue - probably to offset all the cash he's flushed down the toilet over the years.

MSG has done this with other cable providers before and will continue to do it. If you're going through the trouble to change providers simply because of MSG's greed, then you're silly...especially considering the liklihood of them holding yet another provider hostage.

Come on now. They're all greedy. I guess just to different degrees. But I agree with you. MSG does this with every provider. Forces them to take on all their additional programming, like Fuse, and then jacks up the price across the board. The only way any of this ends is if and or when MSG is completely sold off. Not just on paper like they are now. When Cablevision became a provider/producer is when the trouble started.

Of course they're all greedy. Thats part of running a business. It usually comes down to who is MORE greedy, and thats MSG in this case.

They're willing to take away their sports products to over 1M fans in the city they play over this fee increase. It doesnt get any greedier than that.

I don't know how you can be so ardent in your opinions when you don't have concrete figures to back up your argument. You just take the TWC line that MSG is asking for a 53% increase. So what if they are? How long was the last contract? If it was 5 years, then that increase would not be far from inflationary increases over the past 5 years. How much do other providers pay? If DirecTV and FiOS pay a certain amount, TWC isn't going to get a much better deal. Maybe the 53% increase brings them on par with what other providers are paying. Each side in this dispute is going to try and make their position seem like the more reasonable one. I just want my MSG.
