What's interesting is that they already do this for goalies, and they don't take impact that the regular skaters do. But I'd be curious to know how many players wear ill-fitted helmets to begin with because it's more "comfortable".

1) Custom helmets - surprised players aren't doing this right now.
2) Clutch and grab - it's always bothered me that opponents can come flying in and just bust the player beside a teammate now - should there be an adjustment to this rule that allows teammates to protect their defensemen - especially to reduce the speed when running the D? I don't want to remove that tactic - it is valid - just trying to reduce the impact.

Later that season Malkin put Mitchell into the boards ending his season with a concussion. I wonder if Mitchell still goes for that hit today, after all he's gone through with his own concussion issues.
