I understand how the draft works, but how will the season work? I've only been in a yahoo fantasy draft which was based upon the real season....

It is a full team to team simulation. Players are rated in categories such as Intensity, Strength, Speed, Durablity, Puck Control etc etc, and a program called the FHL Simulator simulates the results based on the attributes of the players on the two teams.(The program is very complicated.....lol)

The simulator does everything and then provides an output to explain everything that has happened.....(An example of a league I am in)
http://diehardhockey.ca/
http://diehardhockey.ca/DHHLTodayGames.html
http://diehardhockey.ca/DHHL98.html
http://diehardhockey.ca/DHHLStandings.html
http://diehardhockey.ca/CustomDHHLRosters.html

It can keep track of everything from salary cap violations (Depending on the add ons a particular league uses.) to Calder Trophy standings, to PK %.

You have full control over your franchise. Everything from hiring and firing coaches to ticket prices, to free agency, line combinations, trading players, minors, etc etc.

The program has a utility called GM Editor that is a free utility for you to adjust your roster and line combinations that you send to the Commissioner and he uploads before he simulates that days games.

You do the entry draft, scout players, and negotiate all contracts. It is the closest thing you will be to an NHL GM.

Did we get a web designer? And has it been determined that YKOil and dawgbone are the Commissioners of this thing?

Thome said he would do it... if he doesn't want to, I am starting to be a little more flexible in that regard...

Once we get all our teams, I'll see where we are at. We could also use some player agents and that, if anyone is interested, plus a couple of GM's who want on the board of directors, and some plans to draft out a CBA...

I will volunteer for the BOD. I just don't want a day to day job other than GM.

Thanks, I"m willing to learn as long as you guys are willing to put up with some pretty dumb sounding questions from me.

Thanks!

Aside from reading up on diehardhockey.ca, is there anything else I can do to prepare for the season before it begins?

www.fhlsim.com

go through the message board, post some questions, yadda yadda...

It also doesn't hurt to get some background on players, and to check out the player ratings:

www.internationalhockeyleague.net

To see how everyone looks.

lol... yeah... someone registered the domain name with me, and basically abandoned the idea... so instead of me going for a new one, I had a domain name, related to hockey, sitting around doing nothing.

I am going to be hossy316's Assistant GM. He is going to be away from the boards for about 2 weeks, therefore, he has asked me to keep up to date with this draft and his team. He is hoping that it is underway when he returns.

We are VERY close

Here are some issues with the lists that need to be cleaned up though:

Oilers All The Way - Munich Mashers - Ruutu not a prospect

Oiler4ever - Oklahoma City Blazers - need player and prospect lists

Fincan - Calgary Trashtalkers - problems with your list - check your PM

neogeo69 - Millwoods Cyclones - I think I lost your list of players and prospects - please resend

Cujo_31 -Team Canada - Horton not a player

Outkast - Paris 69'ers - problems with your list - check your PM

dawgbone - Brampton Bulldogs - I think I lost your list of players and prospects - please resend

If we could get say 7 differant GM's to write up a front page article for every day of the week that could work. That way, you'd just have to take the article that you get sent and slap it on to the page. And having 7 differant people writing articles would probably give 7 differant outlooks for each day of the week. Just trying to throw ideas out there that could possibly help the league out. If this is something that the league decides to do, I'd happily be one of the 7. Writing the article will only take 15 minutes or so probably, and I'm sure I can find 15 minutes a week to do that.

I never really got my answer though (to the question that I had with my list). What is the prospect criteria. I have looked through this thread and have not really seen it mentioned. That is why I had Ruutu, Pitkanen and Staal on my list. I thought if Zherdev and Horton were all available then these guys must be too. Are we using HF prospect criteria, NHL rookie status? I think I can assume by who got rejected that we are using HF criteria, but I would just like confirmation before I send the corrections.
