Yeah I do not want to see Johnson out there every game.

Martinek has to be coming back at some point but as far as call ups I would think Savard or Holden.

Good call, I like Wiz but I doubt the defense will suffer much. Our depth chart will get more ice time which will help the organization going forward. This season has been a bear for Wiz, heal soon and we will see you next season.

Holden is injured. (So is Goloubef.) So, it most likely would be Savard.

Sucks for Wiz. I have not been at all impressed with his play this year, but wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Well, I guess Arniel will have more time as his performance as coach can't be fairly judged with Wiz out of the lineup again.

UNRELATED

yakupov is finally starting to look good at WJC.. amazing hands, amazing speed, good vision on some passes, and he is super aggressive throwing his body around like ovechkin does (it is scary and impressive).. grigorenko has been great throughout and looked far more dangerous, but he left early in the second as he was rocked in open ice and rolled his foot super bad.. ankle injury but no certainty on his status for now.

oh and kuznetsov (WAS 1st in 2010 draft @ 26) has 3 goals and 4 assists with 18 minutes to play.. having a solid game regardless of the ****** opponent. he was their best player in a gold medal effort last year as well.

edit - another assist for 3, 5 (8) with 15ish to play.. record is 10 points in a game by Forsberg in 92 against Japan

Kuznetsov is the best prospect not in the NHL.

another assist so he is 3 and 6 for 9 so far

i had never heard of him until he killed last year's WJC and now this year he has looked even better somehow

have you been watching? yakupov hasn't even been top 3 best forward on russia (kuznetsov, grigorenko, gusev), but wow is he fun to watch.. he has wings that kid.

Im a Caps fan 2nd. Kuznetsov is really good. He is literally on another level than everyone in the WJC. How will he fair in the NHL? I dont know, but he is special.

How many times do people incorrectly think effort is measured in goals?

Not sure, but I think a lot of us are smart enough on here to see the difference. You can tell the difference in his play tonight as opposed to many other nights when he looks like he really doesn't care.

Definitely true. Its not being short sighted its seeing who is competing and who isnt. Everyone competed tonight and played their position. It was nice to see, only if it was for one game. Moore is becoming a beast on the back end.

Im not sure I would take it to that level with Moore, but he sure is a far cry from last year. I recall him being labeled a bust?

Eh, he wasnt labeled a bust but it was concerning. He went down, worked on being a PMD and came up and proved it. He's having some trouble clearing puck along the boards but hes great in the open ice. I also am interested to see who gets called up from Springy. Hopefully if it's Savard, he too has learned on his mistakes.

That's good to see. Bad enough that something like 8 of the top 10 prospects coming into this year have suffered a serious injury already.

Why do I have a feeling we will win like 5 straight, and get to 12 or so and miss a chance on Yakupov/Grigorenko?

Nicely done. I lol'd.

Poor Dallas. Getting outplayed by the CBJ at home has to leave a mark. At least the Islanders won also, so not too much damage done.

Gotta wonder what the record is for the game after a team loses to Columbus. I imagine they'd be thoroughly embarrassed and pissed off for the next game and probably end up demolishing the competition.
